so stinking close
to being done with school...I am currently taking a break from studying, it is 2:30 in the morning.
I have 4 finals on Wednesday, and you bet your ass this weekend is going to be a wastefest. Having a party here Thursday, should be a slammin time.
I've been volunteering at Allendale Nursing Home, and I must say it is both depressing and inspirational. I'll be helping out at Brookcrest Nursing Home soon, too. I need to complete 50 hours of coursework by fall for my major. Anyways, I have met some incredible people...I work in a dementia unit, although a few residents don't have it, or maybe a minor case of it. I have to be really patient with them but just to see how happy it makes them to have someone to talk to, or just listen to, really makes it worth it. Everyone I have gotten close to never wants me to leave, and they have told me that no other volunteers really connect with them on a personal level. I see that too. I watch the other volunteers that help people play bingo, play cards, eat, etc. But really, what makes a difference is just sitting down with someone for an hour or so and talking. Also, older people love to hear about young people and their activities. I'm getting close to a few of the residents and it feels so good to know that doing something so little can make their life and living situation ten times better.
What else...oh! I fucking love my best friends. Amanda, Kassi and I made up our own 3-way version of beer pong prior to kassi's party last thursday...yep just the 3 of us... living together is going to be completely awesome, I am psyched!
oh and kassi made the dance team here!!! we love her!
We got wireless and digital cable at home. So that means nowhere else has dial-up connection. (i think we were the last ones)
Grant and I are official now. Only took about 4 years but the timing and everything else is right. and we are very happy and he is a complete sweetheart to me. :]
Note to my best friends: plan a camping trip this summer?? I have intentions of a very fun summer, even if i have to spend most of it all alone in allendale :[ but i want to go camping lots, and spend many days on the shores of lake mich. oh guess what, my parents are going on a cruise to hawaii!!! lucky dogs. but i will be watching roxy and the house for a week and a half, so you know what that means...yep, that's right, party party. boat rides, bonfires, parties...whoo hoo. also, ill be home for the 4th of july weekend (aka week long party), so i will disperse my presence between here and holly quite often...
ehhh time for bed, 9 am comes early
