I had it all planned out. I was up at 9:00 this morning, a nice long time before my 11:45 shift at CPK; I decided I was going to eat a quick breakfast and spend some time at the gym beforehand. Then, as I started eating my Honey Nut Cheerios (mmm) at about 9:13, I received a call from my manager. The roller had gone into labor this morning, and he needed me to come in immediately because they didn't have enough roll-ups to open. Well, I figured that since rolling wasn't that demanding and they had covered for me last week, I might as well help out--and get on the MOD's good side. So, scratch the gym, again. Janelle and I did bond a bit today since it was basically the first time we'd worked together, so we had a pretty good time and the (five-hour-and-fifteen-minute long) shift didn't seem so awfully long. Of course, then I had a closing shift at UPS. Needless to say, I was so tired and hungry by 6:30... and I get to do it again tomorrow. Well, minus the roll-ups, hopefully. At least tomorrow's pay day!
Chris headed out into the back country this afternoon with his huge second crew of thirteen. He was a little less than thrilled due to his exhaustion, but he just needs to get into the rhythm of the job again. But hey, at least we have jobs. As Greg told me, he's only just now looking for a job because his mom recently called him "ineffectual." Hahaha, ouch. He, too, is applying for a job at CPK, joining the ranks of me and James' Natalie. Well, she doesn't belong to James but... oh, you know what I mean!
Jussie and I are staying up right now so we can drive Dad to Kinko's, our annual tradition. His busiest time of the year is every June, right before we leave for the beach. Typically, he finishes up his ridiculously long and involved report the night before we leave, but this year he aimed to finish a day early so he can be there for my mom tomorrow. He's basically been in his office for two weeks, so we don't trust him to safely drive himself. Mom, however, has already crashed for the night, and I don't blame her. But hey, just one more day until we go! That thought will be carrying me through my two shifts tomorrow...
