relationships...Why?

So while i was working today i found myself pondering all day long, the nature of relationships and why we want them...

I'm curious about other peoples reasons, so would love a couple of comments on the subject.
what do you think is the thing you get out of a relationship?

The best relationshipa and friendships force you to learn about yourself, and give you a forge in which to become a better person.

.. and who understands you without you having to tell them what is wrong..
Don't fall for that! Poor communication is poison to a good relationship. A partner will know you well, but will never be psychic. Getting angry at your partner for not reading your mind is a pointless exercise.

LOL... yeah, i didn't mean the whole... 'well if you don't know what's wrong i'm not going to tell you' malarky, i meant more that they know you well enough to be able to notice your behaviour change and recognise when you've had a hard day at work or your family is pissing you off...to recognise that something is bothering you....

totally agree though with your first comment... a strong relationship to me is one where you can be a catalyst to each other, where the other person will challenge me and CALL me on it when you are being unreasonable or starting on a negative though track... it's the way you grow... who could ever stay with a wet rag who never disagreed??? not me...
