Overload of Chinese Decadence

Feb 18, 2007 10:00

Not that I'm complaining. A proper Chinese meal has been something I've been greatly deprived of for the past 5 months, and tonight's splendid spread did not fail to disappoint me.

At Lawrence's house, the enthusiatic household of Lawrence, Peiying, Paul, Sengteck and Don, took on the active and excited role of demonstrating and explaining the significance of Yusheng and its components. Of course, everyone listens to the commentary with pretence interest, but were all really looking forward to relishing the crisps and sweet-sourish tangy sauce of this appetiser. Next on the menu was char siewed and black pepper flavoured chicken wings, which did put Sengteck's cooking skills in the limelight. The combination of evenly-cooked meat and its juiciness, was just something that drew much praise on its creator. Yummms (: Of course, following that was the traditional steamboat of crabmeat, beehoon, prawns, beef, pork, liver, fish and loads and loads of Chinese cabbage! haha Yibing and I practically drowned ourselves with the savoury soup base. After dessert, Paul happily brought the widest array of Chinese goodies, and all of us continued to fill our already bursting stomachs, chomping on the pastries and nuts just because they were there, amidst more conversation and laughs. Good food, great company, and well-decorated place with a Chinese New Year atmosphere - the best substitute for an actual family reunion dinner back at home-sweet-home.

Back at my house saw Yibing and I resuming more games in our London home, losing our voices together with the rest of our household, Gerald, Jolyn and Zhongyi, in silly games of bluff and snap, but which were nonetheless very enjoyable.

I'm off to bed! Gong Xi Fa Cai (:
