Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Definitely more, I think! I still have a lot of planned stories that I’m still working on so it’s quite disappointing that those didn’t get finished this year, but maaaaybe they’ll see the light of day in 2013. :)
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
UM, I WROTE DOCTOR WHO FIC? That was a big surprise. Also
in the mini fics on tumblr, I wrote Sid/Geno hockeyfic, which is another major stunner because I still don’t understand hockey (though if you asked me, I could name off all of their names and tell you about their personalities and relationships with other players).
What’s your own favorite story of the year?
Um, All the Lines Blur, I think. It’s the one I can look at the most objectively and still really like. I’m Alright (I Just Forget You All the Time) is a close second, but there’s just entirely too many feelings tied up with that one to be number one.
Did you take any writing risks this year?
I’d say starting the mini-fic project was a huge risk, but it’s good because it’s forcing me to write way more often than I would have (it used to be every day, and it will be again once I finish my second fic exchange).
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?
I have a story that will up on January 4th, the other fic exchange one, and then my devil’s pact fic with Rai will be up at the end of January also! That one also kind of fulfills my goal of writing and finishing a longer Jesse/Andrew fic, because the ones I have posted now are quite short.
From my past year of writing, what was...
My most popular story of this year:
Most definitely I’m Alright (I Just Forget You All the Time). At least by comments.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I have a great soft spot for I’ll Fight My Corner that may manifest itself in the form of a coda later? That’s all I’ll say about that.
Most fun story to write:
Not the easiest one by far, but I feel like This Love Will Change You was like writing my dream-fic to read, with slow-burn and babies and reconciliation and ughhhhh, everything I love. Additionally, Hurry Home to You because I got to just write straight up fluff with almost no plot.
Story with the single sexiest moment:
Jeez, I have no idea. I feel like none of the scenes I write are “sexy” because I just can’t look at them that way. I guess the one of the ones from All the Lines Blur, either the possessive sex scene or the pining “we’re in love and can’t admit it” scene.
Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:
The mini-fics have to be mentioned here, because I have written panties fic and sex swing and age difference and student/teacher relationships over there. Nothing here on lj can even compare.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
I guess my DW fic The Curve of the Earth, because I really had no concept of how to domestically write Amy and Rory and I’ve never even read fic for them, so it was really interesting to give that a try and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out.
Hardest story to write:
I’m Alright (I Just Forget You All the Time), absolutely no contest. It started off quite easy, but then in an example of art imitating life, around 2/3 of the way through I had to go through a situation very similar to one of the ones in the fic, which made finishing it absolutely gut-wrenching.
Biggest disappointment:
Honestly, the one I just posted, The House I Grew Up In. I’m not exactly upset with how it turned out; I just had such a greater vision for it, but due to finals and time constraints I wasn’t able to put in everything I had initially planned for it.
Biggest surprise:
All the Lines Blur, if only because I started it on a whim and never really expected to finish it. And I wrote it fast too, so.
Most unintentionally telling story:
Again, I’m Alright (I Just Forget You All the Time). I didn’t mean to, but I put a lot of my personal outlook on life into that one. I guess that’s what happens when you write a therapist. ;-)
