I remember the Johnny Nash one more clearly from my youth. Not what you might expect of a Jamaican, perhaps. But my Jamaican music tastes are stuck in the 70s and 80s, and Jimmy didn't record it until the 90s. For Cool Runnings, which I haven't seen. Bite me. Nash's the one I had on my iPod. But I've now added Jimmy Cliff's version to my collection, with glee and some shame at this long omission. I *adore* this song. I've listened to it six times already today. It's one of the simplest, most cheery songs I know.

And I can't lie--seeing the Cliff/Marley byline actually made me think of Supernatural, and made me laugh even more. Dean listens to reggae? Who'd have guessed? But Bob didn't do this song with Jimmy (he was dead by then). Just Johnny and Jimmy covering him.

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sunshiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I've been prayin' for
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sunshiny day.

Look all around, there's nothin' but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin' but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sunshiny day.
