For a Saturday, this afternoon was pretty damn crazy. It all started about noonish, when I took the dogs outside. A storm had just hit, and it was really pouring buckets and buckets. I'm standing there, trying to keep a little dry, when I hear this tweet and see something trying to hop across the ground, closely followed by the dogs. It was a little tiny bird.
I ran over and tried to get the dogs to leave it alone, but they all kept after it, especially my Mia. I felt so damn bad for the bird; Mia kept nipping at it, but I was finally able to get to the bird and pick it up. I don't think it was a baby, as it was about the size of a finch or a small robin. I think it either got stunned by the storms or the dogs were just too fast and stunned it.
I carried it around to the outside of the backyard fence and tried to calm it down. I kept talking to it and stroked its head a little before I set it down on the ground outside my storage shed. I hope it was okay. After I took the dogs back in, I went back out to see if I could find it, but I didn't see it anywhere, so hopefully that's a good sign.
After that excitement, I had the dumb idea to go driving in the storm. Well, in my defense, I did need to take my Netflix movies back to the post office, but then I decided to go get lunch across town. Bad, bad idea. By this point, the storm was really opening up on us, and you really couldn't see more than about half a mile while driving.
As if that wasn't stressful enough, I had a lightning bolt strike very, very near to me while I was sitting at a stoplight. I just saw this white flash land next to me, immediately followed by a damn loud crash of thunder. My head's still aching from that.
Today wasn't all bad, though. Jackie popped into Twitter a little bit ago, and that's always nice to see. I'm getting a handle on Photoshop (GIP in evidence, lol), and I'm hoping to get some more of my kink meme story down tonight or tomorrow. I don't know why I struggle so much with getting Rorschach into bed with Dan. I guess I'm just trying too damn hard to keep him completely in character. Ah, well, it'll work out one way or another.
