Ok, I can tell you now :)
Today Stu's company had to lay off most (I say that loosly as I have only a vague idea how many went) of their employees.
The good news is that Stu is one of the 4 they have kept on :) I am so proud of him. He pretty much knew he'd get one of the roles, but nothing was definite until now.
Tomorrow they are moving out of their office in London Bridge and will be working from home from then on. Stu has been given next week off, plus Christmas week, so he's officially on Christmas holiday as from tomorrow. When he goes back to work after Christmas, he will be doing so from this room, which is going to have to be moved around big time because we're getting a big desk from his office and some new machines and monitors - I think we're going to have to disassemble the spare bed to fit everything else in!
I feel really sorry for everyone that got laid off just before Christmas, but on a selfish note, this has worked out so perfectly for us. WHen I'm not working I will have Stu here to pester and that will rock. It'll be weird when I'm working, but nice to come home to him - he didn't used to get home til 7.15 every evening. And it'll be cheaper because Stu used to spend about £100 a month on travel to and from work. He's always wanted a home office, and now he's got one coming :)
My hands are red raw from carrying heavy shopping home, but I did it, and I feel much better for getting the exercise. I have lebekuchen or whatever they're called, and I got half a free mince pie from the bakery counter :) That really is it though.. no more food shopping til after Chrimbo!!
