Might seem like a pointless entry, but really, shouldn't something that puts a cheer in your life be mentioned, even if it can seem trivial? Well, at least bear with me just this once.
While working on something last week, I had a flash of a picture going through my mind all of a sudden - a picture of Doctor Jekyll from the movie "The Pagemaster", though the title I knew it by is closer to "Lord of the Books". That made me remember the film and how many times I begged my parents to rent it on VHS when I was a kid because I just loved watching it . Then I got all nostalgic and wanted to see it again. You can't get it here anymore, neither on DVD nor VHS, so I ordered it from the States over Axelmusic - seems the only place to get it now.
It arrived here a couple of days ago and when I got back home from a busy day I almost went straight to open it and put it in the DVD-player. That done, I sat down to see if it could still bewitch me as it used to more than 10 years ago. Seen with the eyes of a grown-up, I must admit that it is not an epic movie. The basic plot has been seen several times before, as has the type of characters. Nonetheless, it is a very sweet, lovely movie with adorable characters and very good point - to go read. To explore the realms of the imagination - and I have a suspicion that it has played a vital part in my later fondness for books and fantasy. I've even read both Jekyll & Hyde and Treasure Island. I've got Moby Dick on the shelf, too, but I've got to finish a whole bunch of other books before reading that - "Dracula", "Thud!", "The Dragon Reborn" and "HP 7" included.
Speaking of old films and such - *anybody* remember an old, animated series by the english name of "Night Hood" (it was French and was about the adventures of Arsene Lupin)? Or for that matter a show called "The Magician"? If you do - do you know where, or if, you can get them on DVD - or at least watch them. They were really good shows - and intelligent too. I'd very much like to see them again.
Signing off for now - there's a paper and a fic that needs my attention.
