7. I am torn about Maleficient. On the one hand, blech, more Disney characters. On the other, it's an interesting take on her design. (I didn't know who she was until that shot of her from the low angle looking at Charming, and I noticed the horns and went, "OHHHHHHH.") Back to the first hand: why would you take what is one of the best Disney villain designs of all time and turn her into a not-scary sexy blond with a low neckline? BAH. I mean, Marc Davis! She's so classic! The only Disney villain I would argue for design-wise over her is Hook; when you look at his designs and really watch how he moves, it's clear that he was Frank Thomas' masterpiece.

8. Lucky for OUAT, I am crazy for the Temeraire series right now and terrible at designing dragons (let's not even talk about drawing them) so I was really happy to see a big black dragon doing pretty much anything. Hooray!

9. OH. In that vein, I was kind of disappointed in the crowning moment of Emma's quest being completely ripped from the Disney movie. I get lifting the characters/designs (I don't have to like it, but I understand the various degrees of use that has), but why bother with that? Isn't this supposed to be a revamp on fairy tales in general and loosely on Disney fairy tales? What is the point of telling the same story over and over if you're not going to change it? Lame.

10. The only character I have consistently disliked throughout the entire show is Jefferson. I have trouble getting on board with him and a LOT of trouble feeling anything for him. I think (think?) it's acting, but he's just so bland and wooden. Worse than August was at the beginning. He reminds me of Louis in IWTV and he is just the complete opposite of interesting to me. Although the "fucked up crazy" is a more interesting angle that many other interpretations of the Hatter have not touched, I have a lot of trouble taking the giant hat and the purple fog seriously.
