Even though as I said
here, I've been taking a pseudo-break from updating my journal(althouh I still check my friends list a compulsive number of times each day) I suppose this is a good time to peak out from under my rock. In summary, this winter break was, for better or worse, one of the most eventful in recent memory. For one thing, I saw a grand total of nine movies during the break: Chronicles of Narnia(booooring), King Kong(fucking awesome), Aeon Flux(not very good, but not nearly as horrible as I had been hearing), Memoirs of a Geisha(excellent),The Producers(very funny but kinda falls apart at the end), Brokeback Mountain(a very good, sad, terrifically acted movie, but didn't blow me away), The Family Stone(very funny and entertaining), Fun With Dick And Jane(good, but not up to par with Jim Carrey's past masterpieces), and Hostel(FUCKING loved it; will almsot definitely be on my 10 best list for 2006). Also, even though I still have a few movies left to see(Munich and Match Point, for example), I think I can estimate a 10 best list for '05:
1. Sin City
2. Grizzly Man
3. North Country
4. Wedding Crashers
5. Crash
6. The Interpreter
7. King Kong
8. House of Wax
9. Match Point
10. Land Of The Dead
In other news, some of my brother's friends from Japan came and stayed with us for part of the break this year. Aside from some minor annoyances(ie his friends kind of being bathrooms/computers hogs and me having to always be decent in my own house) it went better than I thought it would and his friends were good guys. Plus it was a chance to practice my craptacular Japanese. XD I'm hoping that during spring break, some of my penpals can come here for a visit, though this is still in very, very early stages of planning. We'll see...
I've also found a part time job, working in the office of a company that sells WWII memorabilia on its offical website and on Ebay. Sounds odd I know, but the job is actually somewhat interesting and I really like my boss a lot. I'm going to try as hard as I can to drop anchor here, because once I graduate I'm sure it'll look good to employers(like AEON *crosses fingers*) that I stayed at one job for a long time. Plus, I don't have to work weekends at this job which is always a plus.
My New Year's resolution is quite simple: My life is kind of a mess, so I want to get it in order in 2006. That means a lot of things I've mentioned here before(losing weight, studying more, etc) and a few things that I haven't, but the bottom line is that while I'm certaily not miserable now, I want to be much, much happier at the end of this year than I am now.
