Mega Californa Sketch Update!!!

Jun 29, 2007 16:28

It's a few weeks late, but I'm finally posting all of the awesome art I did on my amazing visit with Jenny (dumpysaurus) when I went to California. I've also included the pages that either have both of our stuff on it or collaborative drawings, so anything that seems freakishly better than I usually am is probably Jenny's. With that said, let's get this party started!

Let the magic begin!

Sketches I did of what I imagined the visit would be like. The Ape Man and Banana Man thing is in inside joke referring to 2 awesome songs that pretty much sum us up. These were just quick whatever sketches for fun.

When I got to Jenny's house THIS was there to greet me on the front door. I immediately started more or less squeeing, and she heard me through the door. It was great. The Jenny clearly drew this, and this is a Kamo named Boomer for our STILL unnamed collaborative world.

A bunch of the characters from my story, plus a mediocre sketch of me on the middle left.
Top Row (L->R): Brian, a bunch of hands, Bentley (Jeny drew the heart <3)m Leanna, Melissa.
Row 2: Kael and Chris
Row 3: Myself, Bentley, Melissa, and Chris
Bottom Row: Leanna and Kael

The first ever sketches of Howard Rutlidge III (The III came later), who, along with the 3 other characters that spawned off of him, is kind of my top obsession right now. How I love my Howie. Even though these are all pretty terrible. I tried a bunch of color combows for his mohawk, and the pink one with the blue sideburns is what I settled on.

A boatload of sketches of Jenny's awesome Southern ball of fire Brock, from her Mage Academy storyline. Some of these were clearly not packed with effore, and were more for simple amusement. Such as the squashed and stretched ones, the moose one, and the tiny stick figure.

A bunch of sketches I did of (mostly) Jenny's characters. Depicted here is:
B/W hair=Dingo (Jenny's), Glasses-Closeup=Harlan(Jenny's), Boy beside Harlan=Jimmy (lousy sketch, Jenny's), Frightened looking boy=Bentley(Mine), Panda-Lad=Samul (Jenny's), Profile-Boy=Colin (Jenny's), profile girl=Mariah (mine), and a random bazooka penguin and Foogy the Fing, who's bringing sexy back. I guess Commander Peng is mine, while Foogy is just a gift to mankind. And all of the mine/Jenny's stuff refers to who owns the characters, since I drew all of these.

Some sketches I did of a group of Jenny's characters from the same storyline/world/whatever, using a new technique she showed me (hence the blue). I'm actually pretty please with how most of these came out.
Top Row: Lance, Trevor, and Tracy
Bottom Row: Ren, Jimmy, and Colin.

Just playing around with Jenny's markers and drawing more loosely and quickly than usual. The one in the top left corner was done a while ago, but the rest were all done at Jenny's.
Top Row: Loren (mine, drawn earlier), Siyas (sort of both of ours), Juti (Jenny's), and Samul (Jenny's) Siyas, Juti, and Samul are all from the same storyverse.
The blond guy is a terrible attempt at Chris (who is obnoxiously hard to draw right, and mine), the brown thing is an Effini, from the RP Jenny and I concocted ages ago, and the colored full body one is a mediocre attempt at Leanna, which the scanner colorwonked horribly. Jenny gave me some assistance on the arms and legs, which were giving me problems. The sketchy blue one was going to be Bentley, but it was bad, and I abandoned any hope for it.

Now the real fun starts! The page started with Jenny's sketch of Jimmy looking at . . . something. I responded by making him look at the magic loveburst sent by Mariah as a Cherub. Jenny then drew a Colin in the distance, crying out in dismay because he though Mariah's adoration of him in that earlier drawing meant they had something special together. I then drew a giant Melissa head beneath him, so now he's just really tiny instead of far away. Mel is thrilled because last time I drew her I made her much shorter than she should be, and drawing her giant seems to make up for that. Jenny then started a new batch and drew Lawrence her character Lawrence drawing obliviously. I then made Kenisha (mine) the thing he was oblivious to. She'd never met him before, but she thinks he's cute. Then Jenny drew his sister inquiring what Kenisha was staring at Lawrence for. I then drew my character Brian looking at something, and Jenny made him look at her Little Yellow Guy. Fun stuff.

This one's the best. We passed this fella back and forth, alternating on drawing his features (And accoutrements). I think he's very attractive. You can guess who did what. Nobody really knows if his name's really Oswald, or if he just ate somebody's dog and stole its tag.

I did not draw this, but I made him on the Barnes' Wii. This is Mugamysta (Moogermeister wouldn't fit). He is so-so at tennis and bowling, but he pwns people at twice his skill level at boxing. Also, he's dead sexy.

This was not done at Jenny's, but she did the lineart, so I thought I'd slip it in here. I'm not very experienced at computer coloring, so I thought I'd take a crack at coloring an entire picture with a background and anything. It's only flat coloring, but I might try cell shading, or generic shading or something in the future. Harlan is hers, and he's awesome.

And that's the lot of it. Jenny's posted her drawings from the trip (probably with some additional pages with both out stuff on it) in her LJ, but I don't think the pictures are working right now, so I will update with a link to her post when she fixes it. Anyone who made it this far wins.
