Andromeda took a drink and smiled at the woman in front of her, who looked rather uncomfortable in her dress uniform.

"Coming to me for help?" she said, a ghost of a smile on her face--she didn't trust Sariel as far as she could throw her. "Surely you and Sergeant Carrings can't have run out of new and interesting ways to fornicate yet."

"Oi theoi," she muttered into her mead. "Gonna start with me right off the bat on this one? I said riding horses not Hyramus. It's a simple matter of 'will you help.'"

Andromeda set her glass down and fixed her gaze on Sariel. "Will I help?" she said. "It depends on whether or not you can give me a good reason."

"Define a good reason," Sariel paused for a moment and took a long sip of the mead. It wasn't anywhere near as what she was used to back home, but there was no point in complaining. "You know damned well what I'm capable of in terms of killing things."

"So, I help you or you kill me?" Andromeda rolled her eyes and leaned on the table. "Surely you can do better than that." She smiled--she knew Sariel well enough, and knew exactly what the potential consequences of killing an Agranian officer would be for her.

Sariel thunked her head down onto the table and began to talk into it. "Actually, I think you misunderstood my meaning. I was moreso offering a 'you need me to kill someone' contract or something along similar lines. Do you really think I'm stupid enough to kill a fellow officer? Hi. Don't feel like dying anytime soon."

"If I need someone dead, I'll do it myself," Andromeda replied, standing up and thunking an argentil down on the table. "Here's for the mead. Find someone else to insult."

She grumbled inwardly. This was not going how she planned. Sariel then picked her head up. "Okay, let me rephrase myself here. What would I have to do in order to get your help with my problem?"

"I want the Fort Metrimas assignment," she said. It was an excellent mission, and one that would doubtlessly win her a good deal of renown and money. "And I'm certain that you wouldn't mind keeping Colonel Rattan a bit closer..."

There was a long pause as Sariel ran the offer through her head. In Sariel's opinion there was no way that she could handle the- wait. "Excuse me? What was that last bit?"

"Do you think I'm blind?" Andromeda sat on the table and leaned close so that Sariel could hear her whisper. "I go south. Colonel Rattan stays up here. The two of you continue to break furniture in your office. I help you with your furry little problem."

"Actually considering I haven't been near her since I actually entered a more formal relationship with Hyramus, I think you're imagin-" She cut herself off and groaned inwardly. This wasn't fucking helping. "With all due respect, I actually do think that assignment is above your experience level. Actually, if I'm reading your motives correctly, you're just in it for the fame."

"Above my experience?" Andromeda leaned back and shook her head. "General Skadron would disagree."

"Yeah, because you're fucking him, but sex is always a bartering tool in the military. S'not my point." She poured herself another glass of mead. "Be realistic, the assignment's insane to begin with and I'm not letting you put more people at risk for your own selfish gain."

Andromeda scowled at Sariel. "He would send me rather than Rattan because Rattan is clearly insane," she hissed. "Whether I am involved with him outside the call of duty is completely irrelevant." She stood up and straightened her sleeve. "At any rate, you'll find nobody in this army better at sneak attacks than myself."

"Which explains how I got the assignment before either of you."

Losing ground, still. Sariel berated herself slightly in her head for mistaking 'asking for help' with 'being a total bitch to someone she didn't like.' "I'd make some lewd Carrings related innuendo here but this isn't the time or place. And you're seriously going to use guerrilla warfare for that? Tsk. Stupid idea."
