That sucks. I checked out reviews and they seemed like this movie wasn't as good as TLWATW or PC, and I had hopes for this one because, like you said, this one's also my favorite out of the books.
I don't know much about childish assumptions for audiences, but I always assumed that these movies were going for at least grade 2 up, and that's old enough to follow along a basic plot - and don't get me wrong, I love Narnia, but their plots aren't overly complex.
I'm with you too much in this post - I'll totally admit I can start drawing parallels from other religions, but Lewis was unabashed that Aslan wasn't a christ-like figure, it was "What if Christ was a fellow adventurer?" I know the films have appeals to people of other religions, but when they do this it's almost like what they did with the Golden Compass however many years ago - the film's about something, you can pretend and adapt and change whatever you like, that makes it less about what the book intended.
I don't know squat about adaptation, but I'm with you. I'm probably still goint to see it next week, after my final.
