Ring a ding ding

Had a date with the bf today. We went to this little place called My Secret Garden which I've heard about but never had a chance to visit. Set in a corner of Sculpture Square at Middle Road, it's easily missed if you're not deliberately looking for the place. However, we did our research beforehand and knew where to look and even got there 15 mins earlier than our reservation. From the looks of it, we were their first customers for the evening.

Now the floor space isn't that big and if u're looking for a place with loads of privacy for ur intimate chitchat, this is not it. The ambience was good, it's just that the limited space meant tables are set really close to each other. By the end of our evening, we found ourselves sitting between 2 couples on either side, both having serious talks. One was ranting about family problems and the other was preaching about his gf's lack of career drive. Note that we weren't being nosy, but the proximity meant we didn't have a choice but to hear what your neighbours are talking about. I amused the bf telling him that I can't stand all that negative energy and gestured with both hands on the sides of my face and telling him to pretend that we are in a box, blocking it all out. Must have irritated the heck out of our neighbours by having so much fun.

So, personal space problems aside, we read loads of negative comments about the place but it sounded like such a quaint little location that I had to check it out for myself and you know what? Personally, we liked it. The food was to our liking, we stuffed ourselves a little too much though. We had their baked bruschetta for starters, main course was seafood aglio olio for me and roast chicken for him and we shared a brownie later. Teensy little thing though, the bill took a LONG time to come, but generally the service was quite all right. They cleared our plates rapidly and our water glasses were constantly refilled, so I'm not sure why the reviews I've read about the place generally complained about lousy food and poor service.

Now where does the subject title come in? That was the after dinner activity. We had no plans and ended up wandering to Bugis where again we walked around aimlessly and found ourselves going into Citigems to look at wedding bands. We've popped into several jewellery boutiques but we're at a complete loss as to what we like. Nothing has caught our eyes so far, but then we chatted with one of the salesperson at Citigems who talked us through the whole selection process, getting us to try out several bands, telling us what looks good and what doesn't and tada, we picked out a pair.

BUT don't worry, we didn't buy them! Now we know what kind of design looks good yah? So we went to Lee Hwa to try out more rings and boom! we found another pair we like. At least we know what's nice and the estimated budget for the rings. I felt pretty good about this evening, told the bf that I felt like we've achieved something tonight. :) I'm a happy gal.
