Dr Who

Well, I caught the end of the new season of Dr Who. I'll avoid any spoilers, but it was interesting. The new guy is good, no doubt about it. I don't think he'll ever be a favorite Dr Who, but he gets the job done, and he's entertaining to watch, if a bit manic at times. Regardless, it inspired me to watch Dr. Who: The Five Doctors. It was an anniversery special that starts the first five Dr. Who actors. It's probably one of my favorites. The only thing I don't like about it is that Tom Baker has such a small part. It's sad to have a Dr. Who special without Tom Baker.

Anyways, it got me thinking about Dr Who, and I do wish I had more episodes on DvD. I think my brother mentioned a Tom Baker collection. I'd love to get my hands on that. The only problem is that, while I do love Tom Baker as Dr. Who... they had basically a full wasted season. I think it was the Key of Time 14 part series, and it was just insanely boring. I also didn't care much for the brunette Romana. Still, he was such a great actor. I have the episode where they switch from the 3rd to 4th doctor.

For awhile I was really on a Dr. Who kick. It all started when I was a kid and we went to visit Bob and Dara. We had a day where the "adults" were talking, so my brother and I were going to watch a movie, and we just had no idea what the movies were. Finally we settled on Dr. Who and The Talons of Weng-Chiang. I have to say, I had no expectations at all, and had never even heard about Dr. Who before then. It turns out we picked a good episode for beginners. After that we watched basically the entire collection, and when we got back to Florida I found out from one of my dad's colleagues that WUSF TV would show Dr Who at 11pm on Saturdays. Unfortunately, they played some of the worse episodes, but all in all it was fun to watch.

Anyways, I think it's time to hunt down some of my favorite episodes. I'm also sad that Dr. Who and the Curse of Fatal Death is in Tampa. It was a parody with Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean/Black Adder), Hugh Grant, that guy from Moulin Rouge, Jonathon Pryce (OMG awsome villian), and a few other british actors. It's really quite good.

Also, can someone hook me up with the "I want to spend my Christmas with a Dalek" mp3 from the old Evil Cds?

By the way, I have to say that The Master is my favorite villian of all time (haha, time joke, er, wait). All 3 actors (Yes, even the parody actor) did an excellent job. My favorite apprentices were Romana (the blond-haired actor) and Ace. As for doctors, I'd have to say... Tom Baker (4th Dr) is my favorite; then Troughton (2nd Dr), Pertwee (3rd Dr), and Sylvester McCoy (7th) are sort of tied for second. I didn't care much for Colin Baker or Peter Davidson. Whoever played Dr. Who in the Dr Who movie done by Fox a few years back was good. Speaking of which.... anyone have a copy of that?

Meow Meow we require dr who media-ness Meow Meow.

Oh! And I believe there have been other Dr. Who crossovers.... "The Two Doctors" and "The Three Doctors".... hmmm.
