So, if you were making Dune and you had no budget, no time frame, no restriction on casting other than the book itself
you've got William Goldman and Akiva Goldsmith to do the script, the costumes are sorted (Eiko Ishioka left a bequest to Colleen Atwood)

I think that covers the main characters (I've excluded St Alia of the knife as she is still a small child at the end of the book) I've also put them in in the order I remembered them, not because of importance. If I've missed anyone let me know. I know I left out Jamis.
Personally I'd like Asa Butterfield as young Paul, he has this eerie stillness, he suits the colouring and he's charismatic, and it would only be half the story, of course then we need to find someone who would pass as older desert worn charismatic paul, and considering he's meant to be 21/22 it narrows the field a bit, so, not a clue there
and Sam Neill as the Baron Harkonnen, the malicious plotter at the heart of it, just because he does that sooo well. Jessica Lange would be an amazing Rev Mother Gaius Helen, but other than that, I need to think.
