- The Good Thief by Hanna Tinti is an awesome novel about an orphan named Ren who's adopted by two rogue gentleman. I had to rip off the second bit of the sentence cause it was pretty cool lol :) But anyway it's set in 1800's New England and there's something different about Ren . . . . he doesn't have a left hand. He was born with one but it had been cut off as is proved by the epxert black stitching on his stump. Ren doesn't know where he came from or who his parents are, he was pushed through a small door at the gate of the monastery andd has to deal with the everyday drugery of the orphanage, knowing that any who come by to adopt would take one look at his missing hand and move on. That is until a gentleman comes along who notices how handy a young boy with no left hand can really be useful even more so because no one would suspect him of being a thief!
I really enjoyed this book! I'm not sure whether to classify it as Young Adult or Adult but it's excellent. I say i can't make the distinction because there are a lot of subtle points made and I know when I was younger I would have just cruised over them. Read it if you can!
I wanted to write some more but I'm going to see the last airbender and I have to leave now! Hope it's good!
