I take back my previous post. After working for 6 hours straight, my brain crashed and needed a reboot. I always forget that crashing is hard for me to recover from. If I go overboard, it can take days before I can actually do quality work again, which is counterproductive in the long run. Today I managed to get away with just spacing out for two hours before being able to get back to work. So I'm going to go back to the familiar, keep taking small breaks, and realize that keeping sane is more important than always being productive with my time.
