You may think I’m just like all the other girls, attracted to you only because you’re good-looking, you’re popular, you’re talented and all those things the materialistic type of girl would like about you.
There, that’s it. Materialistic. You think I’m materialistic. You think I like you because of what you have and how you look and what you show. But if you do read this, please understand one thing.
Yes, you are good-looking. Yes, girls are swooned over you and wished they had you. Yes, you are a good dancer. Yes, you drive and work. Yes, you live a good life that would secure yourself. But that isn’t you that I fell for. Maybe your looks and moves were the first things I noticed. But that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated by you. That was a 15-year old girl who barely knew anything about love. That was the girl I see in the girls that I’ve come to know who like you.
You, that I fell for, aren’t the rich, good-looking popular guy that all the girls only see. Do you think I would fall for you the same way I feel for you now if I didn’t come to know you?
You, that I fell for, are the man after God’s heart - you give your best for God in everything that you do. You have an inspiring heart to move people into doing something for God. You are the man who believed in what I could do in times when I felt like I couldn’t do it. You are the man who made me believe in my own capabilities when I didn’t. You are the man who gave me the confidence; to please God, not men. You are the responsible, funny guy who knows how to treat people equally. You are the man who would initiate to say ‘hello’s’ and make conversations not awkward when I don’t know what to do.
You are the man who makes me want to be better for God, for everyone I love, and for you.
Maybe right now, you still don’t understand why I chose to love you instead of choosing to love someone else - some other guys in this planet. But someday, one day if God permits, you’ll see that I’m not in love with what you have and what you are, but who you are.
One day, you’ll realize that I’m not like all the other girls on this planet - the materialistic girls who only want you for what you are.
One day, you’ll see that I look through the heart, not just face and pocket.
you,
romance
