Wow! That's one of the most spectacular photos I've ever seen. Was it a volcanic eruption or some kind of storm?

Both. It's a volcano with a lightning storm. I've seen a bunch of pictures like this online. Apparently, there's something about volcanic eruptions that tends to draw lightning strikes. I guess Pele and Hephaestus just have a thing for each other!
