Woohoo!

Picked up a copy of Variety today, and read in Army Archerd's column that Elijah's on the verge of signing to star in a new adaptation of A Boy and His Dog. Interesting, because you know, I wouldn't have thought of him for Vic. (But then, I wouldn't have pegged him for Frodo, either, which just goes to show.) I guess he's still on the track of ( Read more... )

Elijah's getting married????

I've never heard of that story A Boy and His Dog, is it good? It sounds interesting and I'd like to see him do something like you described!

Not getting, got. Happened on Wednesday, according to Archerd. They were in New York and just went off on a whim. Yay! Maybe now the crazies will leave him alone. :)

Holy Fuck pardon my French! It's not April Fools day anymore so...Holy Fuck! I thought he was saving himself for me! lol

If it's true (or even if it's not) I hope the crazies do leave him alone. I don't know how he puts up with the nutters! I can't stand hearing them go on and I'm not even him! :/

Do you have the link to that article by any chance?

Oh yeah, A Boy and His Dog. It's a novella by Harlan Ellison. Takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, after World War IV (which lasted three and a half days, if I remember correctly). Vic is a young nomad, who scavenges the bombed-out landscape with his dog, Blood, who is psychically gifted. They have an arrangement whereby Vic share his food with Blood, and Blood finds females for Vic. It's a dark story, but also very funny, and the idea of casting Elijah is rather inspired, since his face is so innocent.

If you're interested in it, a version was made in the early 70s, starring a very young Don Johnson, and it's out on DVD. :)

ABaHD?? Really???

I guess, after 30+ years, it's ready to be remade. Wasn't really a classic, in any case, first time around. (Don Johnson? yah.)

And married??

I've always thought it was underrated, myself. It still makes me laugh whenever I watch it, and since it's been so ignored, I'm glad a new version is going to be made. Harlan's such a brilliant writer, and I love a good nasty sense of humor. And hearing Elijah argue with a big dog about how he really needs to fuck something now...well, I'm all over that!

Harlan is indeed excellent. Quite a character, too. I love how he'll pop up in strange places every once in a while - I think I last saw him interviewes on Bill Maher's Real Time!

Well, I know there HAVE been rumors of a remake of "A Boy and His Dog" around the net, so that COULD be true, but I haven't heard they were casting or anything. I did enjoy the original, although the dog stole the show. I certainly HOPE they keep the ending as Ellison intended.

But the marriage thing makes me think you are pulling our leg here, cause it IS still April Fool's. And I would think lilithlotr and a few other celebrity news hounds would have been all over that one like, well, white on rice.

So my bet is April Fool's on us. Am I right?

If I am wrong, I am delighted on both counts, but I kinda doubt it!!

p.s., for me "celebrity news hound" is a VERY affectionate term, cause like, what would I do without them??? I must have my celebrity news!!!
