Hey, look, it's merry_fates prompt time again. In which I answer the timeless question "What do you get when you combine this, the prompt, with this song obnoxiously in your head all day, a half-overheard episode Ugly Betty during Chemistry test studying, and art room loitering, also known as my life?"

Apparently you get this. )

transfer students harassing art geeks, i title my stories like emo songs now, merry fates, writing

Thanks for entering! I enjoyed your piece. Especially the voice of the narrator, the development of their relationship, and the set-up in general.

Thanks! I had a lot of fun writing from this POV, I wrote all these random sections before I realized which order they were supposed to go in.

LOL. I do that sometimes, too. Telling myself it will all make sense when I have all the pieces. :D

I almost always write non-linearly, though usually not in something this short. Sometimes I don't ever end up using the other pieces, and sometimes I just can't wait to write a scene.

When I was younger I never let myself skip scenes to get to the one I really wanted to write because I was afraid I'd never go back and write the necessary but "boring."

Yeah, usually I only let myself skip scenes when I'm first starting. Like, when I first get the idea for a certain story, it might be tied into a random short scene or two or three from the middle or the end, and I write those as I'm starting out. And then go through mostly-linearly. It depends on the story.
