This is the best birthday present, I just love it so much. Like I told you earlier, the original was so great, but I was dying to know what was happening in Oliver's head during all of this.
...this wasn't something that he could afford to take chances with. I like the idea that Oliver had this major epiphany where Chloe was concerned after Roulette, but he was scared to rock the boat with someone who was so very important to him and his alter ego.
Even in her worst acts, she had the best intentions... This right here describes them both and is why they are such fascinating characters. They have both had massive fuckups, but their motivations behind those acts were rooted in trying to do SOMETHING to help save the world. Neither one of them can sit around when they see a problem, and the fact that not all of their attempts are successful just makes them human.
I really hope that people reading this piece go re-read the companion first. What I love best about this one is how similar Oliver's thought process is to Chloe's and how much that would surprise her if she knew. I always like when you give these guys equal time in POV, but I give a slight edge to Oliver in favoring his position simply because he always seems slightly ahead of her in coming to terms with their relationship. It's why I think this version is amazingly even better than your other one (not that I am biased in any way :P ).
Thank you so very much for this, Sera. You are the best! ♥

The perk of knowing each other the way they do makes the relationship unique for Oliver. He just got his life back and he knows that he can't be reckless. You see in canon how cautious he is in the relationship, so this mentality fit for this.
Yeah, you know how much I love their humanity in a show of superheroes. Their fuck-ups are noticeable and cringe-worthy at moments, but super-realistic and true to who they are.
No worries on the preference. I think when I wrote the original, I didn't have a timeline associated with it, so establishing that here helped fill in some of the blanks. Plus, there are some noticeable time gaps which led to some creative ways to fill in spaces. I'm glad that I made it work.
*hugs* thanks again :)
