This is such a strong chapter that it could easily stand on its own, but I'm delighted we're getting 3 more. You know I love personal conversations in a bar AND when Jimmy's not killed off but rather just goes away, so this was an automatic win in my book. :)
Sure, this technically wasn't grief, as it wasn't like Jimmy died, but it felt like she lost a lot more than her marriage. Great point. Break-ups/divorce can often feel like someone has died knowing you may never see that person again. Sure there's comfort in knowing they're out there living their life, but the impact on your own life is similar. It's something that pissed me off about Clark 'siding' with Jimmy on the show. Regardless of whose fault it was, his friend was hurting big time and Chloe had been there for him every. single. time. he had even a tiff with Lana or Lois.
Out of everyone, she didn’t think that Oliver would be the first person that she would say those words to. It makes sense that this would be a surprising realization to Chloe, but at the same time makes so much sense that it would be the case. Oliver, having been away from the situation in this scenario, has enough distance from the problem to offer unbiased feedback, but knows her well enough to be genuinely sympathetic.
Seeing her now reminded her of how much he liked her in his life. Nothing to add, just really liked this part. :)
Thank you for sharing! <3

I thought about letting this chapter stand alone, as I loved what I had written at the beginning. Then I practically wrote what will be Chapter 3, clinching that it would be posted.
I love that you outline the grief part. I had written that before remembering what it was for, but I liked it too much to take it out. Because you're right, it's loss in a different way.
For the other line, that is so true for me, and Chloe too here. As she finds herself realizing that she needs to take Oliver up on his offer.
Aw, I'm glad you liked that... and the whole chapter. Hoping to post more soon.
