Sorry for taking so long to reply to this. Just know that this comment gave me the biggest of smiles when I saw it :)
I was really trying to take a realistic angle here, because Chloe's mindset in this episode is all over the place. I'm with you on this episode being flawed, despite the wonder that is the ending (aka the acting during the ending), so it means everything to me that my approach works here.
Funny thing about that moment in Watchtower. It wasn't part of my plan. I only watched the scene again to remind myself if he saw her walk out, but when I saw them grinning at each other, I had to include it. It is such a simple, beautiful moment, and again, kudos to the actors.
Ha! I give the Collateral dialogue a pass because I missed Chloe so damn much at that point that she could have read the phone book and I would have been okay with it. Heck, seeing them smile reminded me why I got into this silly show. For me, that was an easy parallel, and it shows the difference in the scenarios, as she's able to tell Clark, so push comes to shove, Ollie can find her. But it hasn't been too long since that speech, so I think that sentiment still applies.
As for the Jimmy reference, I don't know if I've ever actually seen that episode (thank you fanvids), but this had to be brought up. Even if enough time has passed, it's still a notable event in her life.
Yeah, they tend to be their own worst enemies in their lives, but what matters is that they're there for each.
Finally, I'm glad you highlight that last line because that was dramatically changed right before posting.
Thank you so much! I admit, this one was tougher to write than I thought, so as always, this means a lot.
