Fanfic To-do list: Updates, Excerpts and Resolutions

Jan 01, 2013 15:31

The New Year has arrived, and with that, I've been giving my master fic list a bit of a make-over, which reminded me that it's been a while since I've given an update.  Due to the support in the past few To-Do posts, I've been writing away and below I have some excerpts/updates of my upcoming projects... along with my New Year's fic-related resolutions.

Updates

The Words and What they Meant: Upcoming words include Love and Progression... maybe I'll finally finish Saviour. Look for updates for this series in mid-February May.
Hopes and Fears: A one-shot based during Sacrifice, this is the newest addition to "Something Missing" series and the sequel to "Sudden Sunlight."  I just started this today, so I'm hoping for a mid-to-late January posting date.

Excerpts

Fighting Echoes (April): Coming back in about a week

The ten minute walk from Watchtower to her apartment had almost felt like a nightmare, but that was nothing in comparison to the meltdown Evie had when she got back.

Breathing hard as she looked around, Evie crumpled to the floor.  She couldn’t take it anymore.  The whole time she was hiding her secret, she found a way to just hide the truth, not to lie to everyone she cared about.  This was killing her and everywhere she looked, all she could see was the mistakes she made, all she could hear was the people she had let down.

The apartment had taken the punishment, as tables had been overturned, picture frames broken, among other things as Evie sat in the middle of it, shaking her head.

She should have left.  She should have gone and never looked back.  It would have been hard, but now everything was held in the balance in her decision.  A decision she had already made but it was all because she had become sloppy.  Victor had been right back then, coming to Metropolis was a mistake, and now she knew the only way to keep everyone else safe was to pay the ultimate price.

Passion Leaves a Trace: This Night -  Coming Soon

This wasn’t over, not by a long shot.  But for now, it would have to lie as it was, stagnant tension in their eyes while their bodies spoke their frustration.

It wasn’t how he saw tonight going, as no matter her reasoning, what she did to him stung.  Chloe wasn’t perfect, far from it, but now was supposed to be different.  He was better, she was healing, yet no matter how much they had changed, she still couldn’t trust him.

He accused her of it earlier, but that’s truly what this was now.  It was the only way that they could do this right now, the only way he could grasp what she had done.  The cards may have been turned when he stashed the weapons elsewhere, but the lesson was still thick in the air.

Resolutions

It's that time of year, so I'm setting some deadlines/missions for myself.  This way I figure you guys can keep me honest.  If there's anything else you would like me to do... suggest away.

Year-Long Resolutions
1) Finish at least four song prompts
    Progress: Halfway there.
2) Re-start posting "Renewal" (Yes I'm serious.  I'm tired to having this on the back-burner)
3) Make a new Chollie fanmix.  The last one I did was fun... and as much as I love the idea of doing a "Calendar Girl" fanmix, this may be more likely to be finished.
4) Write at least one holiday-related fic that isn't related to New Year's Eve.
Progress: Started a Valentine's Day fic... only to forget about it until March.  Whoops! Guess this one's waiting awhile.

By April
1) Finish "Fighting Echoes"
     Progress: Complete.
2) Figure out whether or not there will be a sequel to "Breakeven."  I have a storyline, but I'm trying to figure out how events will tie together.  (Better question: do you guys want a sequel?)
Progress: It's not happening. I tried to make it work, but it's either going to be sloppily written or it will drag until no one cares... or potentially both.  Regardless, I could never weave the storyline the way I wanted to and I don't think I ever will.  If I get a "Eureka" moment, I'll try, but it's not likely.
3) Finish the "Everything You Want" series... it's been sitting on my laptop for too long.
    Progress: Complete.
4) Finish the "Something Missing" series.
Progress: Done.  It wasn't initially, but I think "Hopes and Fears" serves as a good conclusion.

Okay, I think that's enough for now.  Here's hoping I can still provide some interesting content...

Happy New Year everyone!
