Because I have no focus whatsoever... I need help

Aug 26, 2012 13:22

If you've caught my most recent "Unintended Hiatus" post, you'll see that I'm still here.  To be honest, I think I'm balancing too many projects, so I'm hoping with a little external influence, my muse will cooperate.

"Love by a Different Name" is almost done and that will priority number one.  The problem is that I had to rewrite Part 9 and it hasn't been working as well as I hoped.  Once that part is finished, the rest of the chapters will be posted quite smoothly afterwards.  "Fighting Echoes" will be back once my beta is available, but once I'm able to finish "Love," I have a couple projects coming up.  Some will be up soon, but I want to get a sense of what people want to see first.  I was going to do a poll, but LJ's poll system doesn't seem to be working, so PM me or leave a comment below letting me know what you want to see first (please only pick one).

New projects:

Sudden Sunlight

Type: One-shot
Rating: PG
Timeline: Between Charade and Sacrifice. Sequel to Sleepless Smiles
Status: Posted

Excerpt:

Propping herself to lean against her elbow, Chloe looked down at Oliver, still sleeping peacefully.  She reached up, filtering her fingers through his hair.  Feeling herself smile as she worked her fingers more, she whispered, “You just had to come around, didn’t you?”

She thought was fine before, living in her ivory tour of sorts.  The database, the building, it may have represented a fragmented, flawed happy ending, yet somehow Watchtower had become a harbour that Chloe could call home.

The warning Doctor Fate left her was duly noted, but Chloe knew she was smart enough to not repeat history.  Just because she had answers didn’t mean she was crazy.  She was independent, not reliant on the people that were insistent of leaving.

Everything You Want

Type: One shot (with a planned companion one-shot)
Rating: PG-13
Timeline: AU Early Season 9
Thanks to: sum04's songfic prompt for "Everything you Want" by Vertical Horizon
Status: 50% (companion piece is 20%)

Excerpt:

Chloe Sullivan had endured her share of toxic relationships, in fact, it seemed to be the only type she knew.  Bloodshed or ignorance seemed to be the only words that were associated with her world.  Clark, Jimmy, Davis... who was she kidding?  When she tried, when her walls came down, they crumbled, toppling the world’s balance with it, or her emotions did the toppling for it.

So she swore off love, refused to believe that it has anything to do with her anymore.  Then he happened.

He stayed behind, allowed her to get back on her feet.  In fact, he the only one who stuck around.  He blamed herself, she blamed herself.  After awhile, they called it a draw and they began to set up Watchtower together, setting up computer equipment, bantering over take-out.  Eventually, they were able to track down the team.  After they brought them home, they couldn’t help but look at each other, feel proud that they got through all this time.

In the Grip of a Hurricane/ Breakeven

Type: Two Multi-chapters ("Hurricane" is 2 or 3 parts; "Breakeven" is likely going to be 8)
Rating: "Hurricane" will be R/NC-17; "Breakeven": PG-13
Timeline: AU Season 6/7
Thanks to: This whole project was inspired by renka23's song prompt of "Hurricane Drunk" by Florence + the Machine, and then it just grew from there.  Also thanks to poetgirl925 who has been my support system on the planning of this fic.
Status: In progress

Excerpt (from "In the Grip of a Hurricane"):

Standing by her table, Oliver was about to introduce himself, but she beat him to speaking. “Flash your smile, cliché, whatever.”  Throwing back the rest of the scotch, she hammered the glass against the table before looking up at him.  “I’m not interested.”

Blinking once, Chloe recognized her visitor this time and she only wished that she had held one more sip of the scotch.  She had no idea what he was doing here, let alone, why he was standing there.  Sure, she stole his drink order, but the man could afford to spend more than one minute ordering a drink and honestly, that gesture shouldn’t remotely leave an impression.  But Chloe seemed to be wrong because he hadn’t moved, even after she thought she had made herself clear.

Instead, Oliver turned to lean his back against the table, looking out towards the crowd.  “Long day?”

Chloe scoffed as she pulled back her seat.  “Like you care.”  Feeling her feet hit the ground, Chloe was ready to get out.  Nothing was helping, especially listening to Oliver Queen of all people.  The last thing she needed was to talk to another entitled billionaire.

Oliver let a chuckle out, watching her take a couple of steps before he cut off her path.  “Actually, you’re quite intriguing.”

Her eyebrows raised at his words, as there was no menace behind them, just genuine curiosity.   But she shook it aside and walked around him easily.  “Right.”

Other options already in progress:

Renewal: I haven't forgotten about this piece, maybe a little push will get me motivated again.
The Words and What they Meant:  The next word will be: Inifinity (via a suggestion from hellzz_on_earth).

If you decide to submit your vote, I appreciate it.  I also really hope to posting actual content soon.  Thank you for your patience.
