Whew! So much going on!

So it's Thursday - known to me as "Day Before it's Finally Almost the Weekend Day" and yet I'm having a hard time staying on task at work. What makes it even more pathetic is that I just had two days off.  That is the reason for my posting on this lovely soon-to-be afternoon.

I took Tuesday and Wednesday off from work to go to Bismarck with Matt. He's pretty much been hired on as a police officer there and he needed to go down for all kinds of testing before they can officially say he's got the job. This all threw us for a loop because we were under the impression that we wouldn't be moving until after the wedding in September. But, surprise! They want him on the job by July 16th. Therefore we really needed to go down and scope out a place to live.  As a note, he'll be moving in July, but I won't join him until after the wedding.

As luck would have it we found something that we both really liked and made the decision to take it yesterday! It seems a little quick, but there were so many things that we liked about the apartment that we didn't want to risk losing it while we sat around and thought about it.

I'm still trying to get used to the idea that we have a place of our own now!  It's so fun to be able to actually see the place you'll be living in your head when you think about decorating and things like that. It's going to be our first home as a married couple (and the first home we live in together) and I'm really excited.

Here are some of the stats:

2 Bedroom, 2 Baths - somewhere in the size of 1,000 sq. ft.
3rd floor corner apartment - more windows and no shared walls
Built in desk - eliminates need to make guest bedroom half an office
HUGE kitchen - tons of cabinet space with dishwasher (YES!)
Washer/dryer hooks ups - unfortunately you have to supply your own
Balcony off the living room - we are allowed to have our gas grill out there which is a huge plus
Vaulted ceilings
Great location

There are a few negatives:
No elevator (but I guess that will keep me from being lazy)
No pets (I so want a dog!)
No central air (but it does have an air unit in the living room and a ceiling fan)
Stark white walls which can't be painted (standard for apartment though)

So, overall, I think it's going to be great for us.

You know, so much is happening lately. Not only did we get that figured out this week, but over last weekend we made some significant accomplishments with wedding stuff. AND! AND! We received a wedding gift already this week! We came home from Bismarck to find that we had the MUCH desired Corningware set on my doorsteps. YAY!
Anyway.....

* Matt FINALLY asked the final two groomsmen. Now we have our four groomsmen all figured out. We have (almost)
all of their measurements and the next step is to order the suits.

* We FINALLY made arrangements with a limo company. Not a day too soon either. Two days after we called, the company had two inquiries about our date. So there will be a limo taking the wedding party around from the photo studio, to the church and from the church to the reception (also to wherever we go for a celebratory drink between the end of the ceremony and beginning of the reception). Matt and I will be driving my father's '65 Mustang convertible.

* What else? I ordered the pocketfolders for the invites and approved the proof for the invites. They are being printed right now along with the CD favor jackets. And the pocketfolders arrived yesterday! I ordered the Merlot Perfetto from www.cardsandpockets.com.

* I made appointments for myself and all of the bridesmaids to have makeup/hair done at a local salon. I also made an appointment for a trial.

* Pretty much decided on the meal we'll have at the reception dinner.

You know, there may be more, but I can't think of it right now. It's kind of awesome how some things come together. But also kind of not how some things never work out. My mom is struggling with finding a MOB dress for instance and it's a long, frustrating story.
ETA: I just got off the phone with my mother and she's found TWO dresses that she likes/that fit! Woot!

In other news, hopefully a week from today or tomorrow I'll be on a plane to Salt Lake City to visit my very good friend and bridesmaid, Eileen. I haven't seen her for almost seven months! I'm seriously looking forward to it.

If only I didn't have to have a root canal on Monday. Woe is me! Really...I'm kind of nervous.

I think that's about it for my update. This weekend we're going to a wedding out of town so it should be interesting to see what it's like. It will be the first I've attended since July 2006!

Hope all is well with you all out there. Thanks for reading this long ass update!

moving, wedding
