Something you don't see everyday

Today I had an appointment for, oh joy of joys, my yearly exam. My inlaws said they would watch my daughter for me so off I go to Grandma and Papa's house. Now my inlaws live out in the country but it's not like they live out in the boonies. Their house is outside our small city but there are no farms until you get a good 10 miles up the road. They are surrounded by other houses and are up the road from the county airport. The road I take to get their their house (the same one the county airport is on) is semi-busy. It's a 2 lane 55 mile an hour road that goes from our city right into the next city. So I'm driving down the road and my daughter is trying to glimpse the airport through all the snow when I see the 2 vehicles in front of me signal and pull over to the side of the road. I figured they were traveling together and were just following each other so therefore pulled over together. I drive around them and see a brown blob down the road moving up towards me. The brown blob is in the middle of the road so I can't go around it and since I don't even know what the brown blob is, I slow down. I come to a complete stop though when the brown blob gets closer to reveal itself to be 3 beautiful horses just trotting down the middle of the road as happy as can be. I pull over to get out of their way and am relieved to see other cars doing the same, some of them blocking the road so that the no other cars can come by and potentially run into them and also corralling the horses so they could hopefully be herded up. People get out of their cars and try to slowly approach the horses when one of them decides it's not so happy anymore and gives out a very loud "neigh". The other 2 start to get antsy as well but before long, after much sweet talking and cajoling, 3 people each have a horse and are getting them off the road and to the nearest house. I then drive away knowing the horses will be ok and because I really need to get going or I'll be late for my appt. My daughter thought this was the coolest thing in the world and frankly so did I. She couldn't wait to get to Grandma and Papa's house to tell them. My inlaws knew right away who the horses belonged to because the owners are the only people around the area that has horses. Just in case, I took a different route back into town so that I could get to my appt on time. When I went back out later on to pick up my daughter, I took my usual route and found that the horses were gone, although there was plenty of horse shit in the road. Anyways, I just had to write about this because like I said in the subject line, this was something you certainly don't see every day!
