WikipediaMarvel WikiUncannyXMen.net's Character Spotlight on Marrow (not a wiki link, but much more in-depth than either of the previous links)
Point in Canon: Just before her fight with Sabretooth (Weapon X #12)
Character Personality: Marrow takes pride in both her status as a mutant and her Morlock heritage, never afraid to remind anyone of either fact. She has lived a harsh life, one where 'kill or be killed' was not just a concept, but the only way to survive. As a result, she's hardened herself in many ways, not just as far as her powers are concerned. She has shown herself to be efficient in her violent ways, almost feral at times, and rarely showing regret for her actions - after all, it's better to kill someone now than give them the chance to do worse to her later.
Her hatred of humanity and 'pretty mutants' in her youth made her the perfect leader for the terrorist Gene Nation, which taught her to be a staunch and dependable team player. While she often operates solo, she has proven to be capable both with individuals who are difficult to work with, as well as more properly organized teams such as the X-Men. While she can be disagreeable to the point of friction with her teammates, she's never left one hanging, and can be counted on even in the most trying of situations.
An interesting aspect of Marrow is that, no matter how much pride she takes in who she is, or how much she would rub her 'ugly' mutated self in people's faces, part of her has longed to be beautiful and accepted. As a Morlock, she had known a very loving family, but outside of them, her powers and nature made it difficult, if not impossible, for her to mingle with 'normal' society. This helped fuel her anger, but it also gave her impetus to change and grow as a person. Her desire to fit in made her work to control her bone growths, and helped her see a bigger picture than just the suffering of her people. It caused her to work for the betterment of both human and mutantkind, and allowed her to make more personal connections outside of the Morlocks, specifically members of the X-Men and even the occasional human. It's also because of this that, when she lost an amount of her control, she became a bit desperate, and was willing to sell her soul into servitude for another chance to be beautiful. Her love of beauty extends beyond herself, as well. Not only has she held other teammates in high regard due to their physical appeal, but she has also found an appreciation for both art and nature, albeit not all aspects of either.
She has not had an easy time in forming personal relationships. With few exceptions, her own strange combination of pride and self-loathing gets in-between her and most that would connect with her, forcing them to scale incredibly high walls just to get a glimpse of the woman inside. Marrow, too, pushes people away at the same time that she wants to be close to them, due to her history and past experiences. Recently, due to her regained 'conventional' beauty, she had a very intimate, sexual experience with another (possibly her first and only), though it was later revealed to be caused by the mental manipulations of her 'teammate' in Weapon X, Mesmero. As a result, she's made her walls even higher and thicker, refusing to allow herself to be hurt so deeply, to be touched like that again.
Marrow is a creature of constant conflict, dichotomy, and antithesis, all of which she puts behind a mask of anger and hatred. She wants to do right and live as part of the world around her, but various factors always end up keeping her seperate, either external forces, or her own inability to reconcile the differences in herself.
Character Plans: Marrow is always looking to play angles that help her out in the end, but she knows what she's good at. Her fighting and leadership skills are marketable, and she'd be looking for a way to use them in exchange for whatever it takes to keep her bone growths under control and continue looking 'conventionally' beautiful. As such, she will probably see about doing wetwork for SERO in exchange for their scientific and medical expertise. She may not be necessarily loyal to SERO (or to anyone else), but she knows what to do to get what she wants out of the deal, so she'll keep doing it. Additionally, I want to explore how she reacts to a world where she wouldn't necessarily be shunned or stared at if she did have her bone growths, as an inversion of many of her in-universe stories.

Marrow Writing Samples
First Person Sample: Huh. Well. Ain't this a kick in the teeth.
Pro'lly just as well, though. Kinda tough hangin' around lookin' fer the knife in yer back. The way things were goin', been kinda expectin' it. Guess I can breathe a little easier on that.
I swear, though, if I ever get another chance t' ventilate Sabretooth...
Anyway.
Alternate universe, huh? Been there, done that, threw away the t-shirt. At least this one ain't lookin' like an alien drug trip painting or some barren wastes. So it's a step up.
's kinda dark, too. I like that.
Third Person Sample: It had taken a lot of work to get to where she was. She had made promises, done some unsavory things, and talked to all the right people, or the wrong people at the right times. It felt like an eternity, but she was finally where she needed to be. Dressed in a black suit and concealing her features with makeup, a wig, and mirrored sunglasses, Marrow stood among the security detail for David McGuffin, a former personal assistant to Governor Redgrave, who had been a vocal critic of both AGI and SERO in recent months. Some people assumed he might be making a shaky run for governor himself; others ignored him, figuring him as yet another fool who took the problems of his life out on those with money and power. Marrow didn't really care what his opinions were; she had a duty, and would see it through. A perfectly collected, professional individual.
Today, McGuffin had organized a rally on the border of Sectors 1 and 2, a movement to show both AGI and SERO that the citizens of Siren's Port had endured them long enough. McGuffin's speeches drew crowds, though usually they were of the bored or detracting type. Recently, however, he'd been winning more people over to his cause, and the large crowd in attendance gave his megaphone-amplified words more gravity. No doubt, there would be some movement against him - company supporters, general misanthropes, or even one of the companies itself. Whoever predicted the last was not wrong.
As the crowd built into a fervor, Marrow moved closer to McGuffin. "Sir," she muttered in a raspy voice. "Should be careful. Possible AGI hostiles spotted along the perimeter." He nodded, then turned to the mic and began ranting about how AGI was so afraid of a dissenting opinion that they would attack people just to keep him quiet. Marrow touched the earpiece she was wearing, and suddenly gunfire erupted from a stand of trees within line-of-sight of the podium. A security agent was riddled immediately, while others scrambled and Marrow shoved McGuffin out of the way.
Holding him down behind the podium, the gunfire threw everyone on the stage into chaos, diverting their attention to the shooter once they saw that Agent Rushman had McGuffin covered. At that moment, Marrow flashed a grin to her 'employer,' and before he realized what she was doing, a bone spike popped out of her bare wrist, jamming straight through McGuffin's neck and throat. His eyes stared at her, terrified and betrayed. She just chuckled. "What, you didn't think I might be cashin' someone else's checks?"
Less than a beat went by before she was on the ground running, not even hearing the shouting when the others realized that McGuffin was dead. She tore the wig off and darted into the nearest alley, throwing herself towards a wide-enough storm drain to wiggle through. With a light splash, she landed, pressing herself against the cool stone wall of the drainage ditch as footsteps thundered up above.
After they faded, she flipped open her phone.
"Yeah, he's dead. Prob'ly thinkin' AGI did it. Yeah, send yer cleaners t' take care of everythin'. I'm headin' out."
