Still there

What a week! Two bad nights on Sunday and Monday, and it's enough to make me so sleepy all the time... and not very productive at work. I'm struggling with my exchange fic, doubting if I'm not writing the most boring stuff of the exchange story... I hope not, because it's turning out to be lengthy enough. I hope to have finished it by the deadline ( Read more... )

I hope you'll get to catch up on sleep soon! I know too well just how badly even one lack-of-sleep night can mess things up for days.

I've been getting somewhat curious about the Sons of Destiny series, but haven't really got around to doing anything about the curiosity... I have way too many books at home I still haven't read, and also, I haven't been wanting to buy books online for a few years now due to the rather nasty shipping costs (I practically only buy on eBay but with something like that, I'd rather buy new to give the author her due).

I've been seeing so many people like those books though that I'll probably give in at some point.

I guess that's the drawback in living in a small country: no amazon there. I ordered the books through amazon.fr, but sometimes it's less expensive to order through amazon.co.uk or amazon.com. Have you read ladyofthemasque's fanfiction? It should give you a fair taste of her writing.

I think I'm back on track about sleep now. Of course, now being the WE might help a lot... Thanks for your concern.

I've read most of her fics, I think, and have liked them, yes. That's the main reason I'm somewhat interested in her original fiction.

Having a local Amazon branch would be nice. Amazon UK was okay until we joined the EU, although the shipping rates for books were high even then (they charge shipping for us as for "the rest of the world", not for Western Europe - which is something that rather annoys me, considering that AFAIK, the Royal Mail considers all Europe the same), but with the high shipping rates + VAT now, it's quite ridiculously expensive.

Shipping's less from the US, but our customs people have become quite diligent, so there's extra customs tax + VAT for anything more than one book or DVD at a time... *sighs*

According to the French post website, 500 g cost 3,9 euros to Estonia (economic packaging). Each book costs around 10 euros on amazon.fr. If you're interested (no shipping rate for books). I can order them for you and send them to you, and you can pay me back through paypal. The paperback versions will be out in 2008 too if you'd rather wait until then.

Thanks for the offer! I'll keep it in mind - I'd probably want to wait for the paperbacks, though. I really should attempt to read at least some of the dozens of unread books I've got at home before getting new ones.

Amazon.fr charges us 13 euros for shipment + 1.9 euros per item (+ VAT). Finland (which is hardly closer to France!) gets off with 6.27 + 1.55 euros. You can see the reason for my annoyance with Amazon, yes? :-D

I know amazon charges a lot. I have sometimes ordered in UK or the US, but carefully calculated before I did so. However, with the euro so strong right now, it's sometimes less expensive to order abroad.
