this is my story
we left the bay area at 2pm thursday june 3rd
we arrived at the bunny flat parking lot about 8pm
we pulled out our sleeping bags and slept in the parking lot overnight
at 5am on friday we woke up and got ready to spend the next 6-8 hours hiking to camp
scott and i got to camp around 1 pm
we set up our tent and relaxed for a while
before dinner we were trained for ice axe arrest
after dinner we crawled into our tents for the night
then i felt what i was hoping i would not feel, the first signs of altitude sickness
(or so i thought)
at 1 am my watch alarm went off to get up and start the climb for the summit
i did not get up, i felt ill, i figured that if i tried to summit i would get sicker and would have to turn back, having to take some one with me. i did not want to turn back and ruin someone elses chance to summit.
at 3 am i woke up again, i had to pee
i could see my group, i could still hear thier voices in the distance
i wanted do badly to summit, i saw what i was missing out on
i saw two people that were getting thier gear on, i asked if i could tag along with them, they were more than happy to have me tag along.
so the two guys (gary and john) and i started out trek up the mountain
i hiked with them for about 45 minutes, i flet really ill, i could not go on, i had to turn back
so i did
i cried all the way back down to my tent
around ten am the rest of the group was back down at camp, no one had made it all the way to the summit.
scott was one of the few that got the closest.
around 11.30 am we packed up all our gear and glaciated down the mountain
we drove the 6+ hours back
