So it's been a long time again. I've lost the touch for this thing.
We were doing some major cleaning today because we have a crazy week ahead of us and are having guests for dinner a couple of times and we finally got around to clearing off "the wedding table." Well, some of that constituted moving gifts we don't yet have a place for into a different corner and filing receipts and reappropriating supplies, but it also meant throwing away bridal magazines and leftover extra invitations.
For some reason it was kind of difficult for me. Why? Everything was perfect enough for me--the wedding was beautiful. I've kept some copies for myself. Someday I will emulate my MIL and make a scrap book. But still... I made Greg throw them away. After all the work to get those darn invitations right, all the money we spent to get them, and then the full weekend Greg and I sat down and assembled each one painstakingly by hand a mere year ago... well, I guess it's just hard to believe time moves so quickly. In some ways, we've done so much! In other ways, I feel precisely the same. I guess that's just life en general.
Still at my job in publicity, but I'm taking a class! That's right, a graphic design class. I'm excited, so we'll see what happens. If nothing else, it'll get me designing, it'll get me credit, and my work will pay for it. Next in line will be a web design class because apparently all graphic designers need to also be able to design for the web now. Thanks to friends that get awesome discounts, I scored CS3 for a price so low I can't print it on the internet. But it was legal. And awesome.
And I've made some friends. Wee! It's not the same as the MD gang or Team Shirley, but it's a start. We're still working on a team name in fact. Basically I am no longer the sole marketing assistant... there is one now for sales and promotions and they're both awesome. And I'm still friends with some of the girls that left the press to pursue other options. And there's family, always. And Greg works with some really great people that we try to see socially every so often. So we're building. Slowly, slowly, we're building. But I still miss everyone. Alot.
Including my family. Jamie is going to la Suisse!! for study abroad! In fact, she's flying out tomorrow afternoon. I'm super psyched for her, but will miss her alot. Having her nearby has spoiled me. Since moving here and us being near each other but not necessarily living together, we've become alot closer. I like spending time with her and she has some cool friends. So it'll be a little lonelier without her here too. But there's always Skype.
Speaking of family, we went to the in-laws this weekend and I, yes I, tried snowboarding. I know, I know, it's hard to believe I even lived to tell the tale but voila, here I am! It was fun and we had a really nice time. Of course, I was practicing on a grade of maybe 1º, but still! And I wasn't in a class of 7 year olds either! One of the other girls in the course asked me who I was there with and I said "Oh, my husband and his father are skiing" she said "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YOU'RE MARRIED? HOW OLD ARE YOU, TWENTY????" and I said "erm, 23?" and she said "AHHHHHHHHH YOU'RE YOUNGER THAN ME AND YOU'RE MARRIED! I mean, that's great and all but AHHHHHHH!" and I said "Hey, it happens" which is all I can ever thing to say in response to that reaction. It sounds very noncommittal, but I don't know, I don't feel any need to really defend myself. And nothing I say is going to convince a perfect stranger that I know what I'm doing. So anyway, it was amusing.
Well, that seems to be it I suppose, not much else to report. I'm reading alot, as always, and not writing enough, and playing lots of Wii with Greg and OH watching lots of Quantum Leap. We now own all 5 seasons and need merely to begin Season 4. No, my life is not a thrill ride, but I'm having a pretty good time :)
