it's ashira... from yww... a million years ago ('01). I was looking at CMU communities and came across some advice you were giving to a grad student about moving to Pittsburgh. I'm thinking very seriously about going to CMU for the MA program in LCS. Do you have any advice/thoughts about the english department and stuff, ie existing as an english person at a science school?
Congrats on your wedding plans! And MIT Press! I start my last semester at Wellesley in a few weeks, so will be back in the Boston area at the end of january. Hope all is well.

I loved being an English person at a science school, but I hear being a grad student is very different and much more insular than being an undergrad. I've hear good things about LCS, though I don't think I had any of the professors... I took mostly creative writing and at least as of now, there is now CW grad program. Pittsburgh is a really neat city and the CMU campus is beautiful. I would check it out for sure.
