Ducher China Rose

This variety is from about 1869.  It grows in tight clusters. As you can see in this picture, there are three buds on there so it pretty much continually blooms throughout the growing season.

Duchers are small shrub roses with petite blooms, so can grow well in pots.  Personally I haven't had a lot of luck with potted roses; they always seem to do better once I plant them, but others are better at container gardening than I am.

We drink a lot of loose tea. When we are done with the pot I take the tea leaves and put them on the roots of the roses. This was a tip given to me by my MIL and the roses really seem to benefit from it.
