these questions come courtesy of
allene. the rules are - post on this
entry, and you will be asked five questions by me, the answers to which
you must post on your livejournal, where the cycle will continue. THE
QUESTIONS WILL NEVER STOP
1) What high school did you go to? Did you like it? Why or why not?
i went to earl marriott, and i liked it there. it's a pretty friendly,
laid-back school with lots of arty drama kids and hempy/hippy pot
smokers. at least that's what it was like when i went there. i really
liked a lot of the teachers i had and i had a generally positive
experience going there. i made a lot of really good friends there too,
many of whom i'm still close with.
2) What do you want to be when you grow up?
i'm really not all that sure! i see myself doing a lot of different
things. i think i might end up being a university professor. i don't
know what i'd teach though, because i still don't know what i'm going
to major in. i'm thinking linguistics, or asian studies, but i can't
say. i also want to start my own ESL school, based both in canada and
japan. and i want to be a writer.
3) What is your favourite drink? And why?
i like heineken. and vodka. and i've been known to partake in the
drinking of sissy girl drinks. i only drink classy things. also: i'm
somewhat of a cheap drunk.
4) What is your favourite science fiction show/movie, if any? Why?
hmm... i'd have to go with akira for my favorite sci-fi movie. or
brazil. i think i prefer akira though. it's one of the few movies that
seems just as cool to me now as it did when i was twelve.
i predict that i'll greatly enjoy the forthcoming hitch-hiker's guide
to the galaxy movie as well.
as for my favorite sci-fi show, TNG's the only one i've ever really
watched. i still watch it sometimes when i'm home sick.
5) Did you play a band instrument? Which one? Why did you choose it? If not, why didn't you take band??? hehe
i still dabble in piano once in a while, but i never took band! in
grade 7 when everyone got to pick their instruments for band class, i
picked the trombone. but then my parents didn't let me take band for
some reason. perhaps they hate trombones? or music? but yeah instead of
going to band with everyone i had to join the "recycling club", which
consisted of me and the other kid who wasn't allowed to take band.
everyone would run off to the band room for an hour and me and this
other kid had to sort all the pieces of scrap paper and then put them
into corresponding bins according to color. which was SO FUN THAT IT
HURT. i remember feeling an acute bitterness as i dragged my huge bag
of pastel papers past the band room and heard all the kids clumsily
playing their instruments.
