... means I get to see a lot of people doing dumb things with computers. Its honestly almost embarassing. Here are some things you should NEVER do. Whether its good sense, or its something that annoys me personally.
1) Don't call your desktop a 'modem'. Its not a modem, its a tower. A computer. You sound stupid saying this.
2) Don't call it 'The Vista'. It doesn't have 'the' status. Its just Vista. And its not that bad, I personally -like- it.
3) If you see a pop-up telling you that you have 307547 infections on your computer, and you NEED to download this magical thing to fix it... don't. Its trying to GIVE you an infection. Stick with one reputable AV/AS program, and leave it at that. Oh, and make sure you get your updates frequently. Its computer vitamins.
3) Just because your laptop is wireless... doesn't mean you can magically get internet anywhere. Don't think it means this, and please please don't think it means that you don't have to plug it in to charge it. And I wish I were kidding O_O
4) Don't take a laptop into a repair place without the powercord... its just plain silly. Desktop power cords are at least universal...
5) Don't bring me dirty stuff! Or stuff with bugs crawling out of it... again, I wish I were kidding.
Honestly, I laugh at a lot of the things that I see all the time. I don't mind people who just plain don't know, as long as they're willing to learn more. I know I'm never done learning... ever ever. And I'm ok with that... Its when people get pushy about not knowing something, refusing to accept what I might be saying. I only say what i definately know. If I don't know the answer... I go ask. Its a beautiful thing.
Sometimes I want to write up a little brochure that gives basic computer operation 101. We could avoid so many troubles, and I bet it'd help a ton of people, if it could be widely circulated. If we could spread the general basic knowledge, maybe we'd see less of the silly problems :)
