The Blood-starved Beast... Quick, agile, high vitality and poisonous to boot. I found him easily enough, simply had to adapt to his chosen ways of attack. (Relatively straight and pretty easy to read. If he were a boxer then his career wouldn't have lasted long. XD)
The Shadows of Old Yharnam. Also fairly easy and straight forward. Particularly with the cannon I found and upgraded, just watching them go flying is worth it alone. On a side note, parrying via the pistol and timing my blows and follow-ups definitely helped in this fight, as did using Bone marrow ashes.
Still the sights are as beautiful as ever. Progressed through an oily swamp into a decrepit castle and got torn apart by a thunder-tornado wielding beast of a Werewolf, was poisoned by massive coiled snakes and faced strange possessed beings that looked like they belonged in Resident Evil after it got bad. I've entered a manor in Brygensworth by the darkened sea (The full moon view I got, absolutely beautiful! :D) and came up against a hunter with extreme magics the likes of which I haven't faced before. Did not end well. Thankfully I opened up the shortcut to get there once more.
I also got through the randomized dungeon of the first chalice after completing the easiest one; echoes seems to increase per progression in chalice, so that's something at least. The sheer amount of blood gem's I have at this point! (Yet still I haven't found one for the pistol.)
My blades of mercy have adequate power and sufficient speed that it scarcely matters that they don't stagger an opponent. I simply maintain decent speed and constantly dodge and occasionally switch to the Saw cleaver and that works as a staggering tool and does more damage. That is, when I don't simply use the cannon.
On another note, I'm definitely digging the styles shown in the game; the sweeping coats, hunter's and wide brimmed hats, the cloaks and olden style clothing. Really inspired me to check out a victorian-style coat/cloak of my own. Probably order that at the end of the month. We'll see how I feel, I suppose.
