Amaya hears the voice, and smiles within a dream. It could be the first time she's done so since awakening again.]
Hello? I know you. Guess what - I have a dog now. His name's Marshmallow and he's really small, and he knows how to sit and he eats out of my hand. Did you find your mama?
[Sephiroth allows himself to sit quietly and allows reality to fade itself into the background. Focus directed inwards to concentrate entirely on this little conversation, his new little sister (for that is what it felt like) intrigues him deeply]
Marshmallow. Cute dog. [He could imagine it rather than having to see the dog to know that even if it was butt ugly, if Amaya found it cute then best to stick with that. He was not ever one for animals. A soft chuckle follows]
Mother will always be with me, even if she is not physically. Perhaps one day you'll meet her.
I want to see my mama first. I'll see her when I'm not sick anymore. Mister Hojo says I have to be quiet and do everything he says before I can see Mama.
[wave of anger and realization rips through Sephiroth's primary thoughts. That if she is in Hojo's clutches there is a reason indeed for her unhappiness, what could he want from her? Could he be responsible for making this little girl a member of their family involuntarily. Oh well it had to be dealt with now]
He is a very bad man, Amaya. Don't listen to him.
Pain is only skin deep, it will fade with time. You must promise me Amaya, don't listen to the bad man...

[What was he going to say to Amaya that she wasn't too young to hear? That Hojo had lied to him his entire life and now had recently fought to try to claim some legitimacy to Sephiroth's power by ridiculously attempting to reveal he was his father? That Hojo had been the root of all the experimentation he had been subjected to in his youth? That Hojo had been the cause undoubtedly been the reason for a lot of decisions made back then, Sephiroth's education, Sephiroth's choice to join the military in order to get away from the constant presence with the glasses and clipboard]
[He had once described Hojo as a "man with many complexes" and he still firmly believed it]
...did a lot of nasty things to young children. He is a liar and he will only be nice to you as long as there is something in it for him. He is very selfish. I don't want him to hurt you...like what happened with me
[She thinks on this, semi-consciously aware of the big boy's anger, tinging his speech with a razor edge. It scares her a little.]
...Okay. I won't listen to him anymore.
[Though she's lonely, more so than she can express with her childish vocabulary. Here in this large building with its endless corridors, no one gives her a second glance except the old man with glasses.
Her voice is a little higher as she asks:] Will you talk to me lots? No one talks to me here. Do you have a puppy or kitty? I used to have a kitty called Dante but I don't know where he is now. How many friends have you got? Do you have brothers and sisters?
[Such an impressionable young mind, so easy to bring around to his way of thinking. Amaya would make a viable addition to their flock, who knows what great future they would bring about.]
[The change in tone of four-year olds as they get excited is something magical indeed. Sephiroth smiles to himself at her barrage of questions, so innocent questions and wonders if ever he had the chance to be like that once. He can't remember that far back though.]
I am always here if you need to talk to someone, wouldn't be much of a brother if I wasn't. As for friends, they are too easily broken. I do have a brother I would like to introduce to you though...
[She hesitates, suddenly a little shy. This dream belongs to her and her new brother; she's almost reluctant to let another in.
But then, when was the last time someone spoke so soothingly to her? Of course she trusts him, and not just because he speaks with such conviction, either. She feels as though they are linked somehow; a sibling without a body, but who reaches directly to her heart.]

She hasn't forgotten about us, but given us a very special little girl to protect...
