I watched the Deleted Scenes on Garden State DVD, and also the Audio Commentary by Zach Braff and Natalie Portman and the "Making of Garden State" documentary. The Commentary was hilarious, the two had some really funny moments there, and they were really lively people during the commentary. There was some Star Wars jokes included, some funny stuff about Natalie's ears and many other things. Zach and Natalie were also telling each other how cute or nice either one of them looked in the film, though sometimes Natalie was a bit embarrassed about the way she's making faces or looking in the movie, and she also talked about her family every now and then. ^^ The characters feeling so realistic in the movie is a good thing, but it seems the actors also feel like real people, which is something you'll see quite rarely nowadays since actors' and celebrities' lives are such soap opera and drama mess-ups. :P
The Deleted Scenes add a lot to the character development, IMHO, so it's a bit of a shame those scenes weren't included in the movie. Fortunately they were included in the DVD. The movie can do well without them, but they add to the movies just as much as, say, Return of the King Extended Edition adds to RotK. Probably the best Deleted Scenes were a dark conversation between Andrew and his father (Zach Braff and Ian Holm), and extended discussion between Andrew and Sam (Zach and Natalie) about what love is and what life is about.
The "Making of" documentary was a nice 30-minute-long video where the staff was telling a lot about the way the movie was made (well duh :P). It was nice to see that the whole staff, both actors and the other staff, were all working together and made a nice team. Also interesting was to see how Zach took about 80% of the movie's events from his own life and experiences he's had with his friends.
Even without the Deleted Scenes, I think Garden State is a deep and a realistic feeling movie about life, homecoming and somewhat about love. Good writing, good actors, good movie overall. I don't think many of you people have heard about the movie (unless I've been bugging you a lot about it ^^), but if you ever come across it, you should rent it or something as it's a very nice movie. :) I don't think it'd be too high a score if I gave this movie 4- stars out of 5.
I was working overtime yesterday, and I was really tired. My feet were aching yesterday evening and today morning. I'll have work tomorrow, but Friday to Sunday will be free because it will be Midsummer. Whew, finally some spare time. Unless I'll have to spend the whole weekend getting bored at my parents' summer cottage. o_O I'd like to see some friends on the weekend, though they'll probably be celebrating elsewhere.
My dog has been bleeding and dropping blood every now and then. She had a womb infection on June 2004 and she almost died because of it. I hope history isn't repeating itself and getting her in a very bad condition. =/ Hopefully the bleeding will stop soon and it's not too serious.
I played some more Return of the King today. I got Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf and Sam to level 10, and Frodo, Merry, Pippin and Faramir to level 4 (level 20 is the max, I think). Faramir was actually quite a cool character, both a good fighter and a good archer. Most likely more useful than in Battle for Middle-Earth. xD I still think they should have put Éowyn there too, as she's a neat character and she was in-game as a character who was fighting in the battlefield. I'll keep leveling up my guys until I'm strong enough to fight on the Palantirs.
I'm off to sleep now. Take care, everyone, and good night! ^^
PS. I've always liked Phil Collins' song "You'll be in my heart" from Disney's Tarzan, but I didn't know it was an Oscar-winning song. Whoa!
