You people and your schedules

So in a normal semester, I would jump on the bandwagon and post my schedule for next semester, but as I have been accepted into the U, I get a good, hard lesson on being shafted by class choice. On the bright side, I'm registered for the first day of orientation week, so I'll have first pick (of the last pick). I should probably figure out what exactly I'm going to be looking for.

What I do know is that I'm going to talk with an advisor about declaring my double major and then, unless I have some pressing generals, I'm going gung-ho into Asian Languages and Literature and Anthropology. I'm taking the second semester of Intermediate Japanese, which I'm terrified and excited about. That placement test is looking more and more difficult the further I read on. I'm mostly scared of the listening and conversational portions of the placement test, as those are my weakest points. I have finally realized that my teacher, just like Japanese English teachers in Japan, has been excellent at teaching written Japanese and pretty bad at teaching the spoken language. Sure he's teaching kanji at a snail's pace, but I am apparently very good at learning it quickly. I wonder if this has something to do with my fascination with symbols and meaning.

After this weekend, I'll have to start getting more serious about studying for this test. Erin! I need your help! I will try to work something out with you soon. Megan! When you get back, I want you to tell me how the classes are at the U. Also, did you have to take the placement test? How was it? Or anyone else reading this! I am really just looking for something to calm my nerves.

Other than that, I imagine I'll take 3 or 4 other classes, depending on time. I would like at least one actual Asian Literature class, possible one on folklore if it's available. And I need a couple of Anthropology classes too, also preferably about mythology or folklore. Anybody have some good classes to recommend? Megan mentioned a pretty cool sounding Anthro class that I may have to check out (if there's room available). I am a bit bummed I have to wait 2 months before I can register, but goddamn am I just happy to get to go.

Back to work! I'm not supposed to be on the internet.
