Ok, I would like to clarify since I have gotten lots of feedback and questions regarding yesterday's post.

I can definitely understand your fears. I do think you're handling things well and taking appropriate action.

It's difficult to tell when dispensing support or advice online how it will be taken. Reassurance can sound like you're making too much of things but, then again, saying something like, "yes, you definitely should see a professional about those things, your concerns are well founded" may be intended as "good call" but be interpreted as "get that kid to a doctor NOW before there's bloodshed."

I used to think we are the way we are and we can transcend or fall short of our environment because of our character--which I still think is possible--but I think that may have been because I came from a fairly crappy environment and didn't want to face that. I can see now just how much my environment made me what I am, both good and bad.

The best thing you can do is set a good example for Lane and have those around him set a good example. Eventually, it will stick and overcome whatever bad genes he got from Echo (who likely just learned his disfuntional behavior anyway) as well as the bad behaviors he learned from him.

Your good influence on Lane can only grow at this point.

The pregnancy is moving right along--although we still get confusing answers on the due date even though we're 95% certain of the conception date (yes, it was that good ;)). Heard the baby's heartbeat again today and next week we get pictures and a gender.
