"Man, you know who I think would be great at giving head?" Yukwon drawls at him, one arm wrapped around Minhyuk's waist and the other dragging up and down Jaehyo's thigh.

They're out at karaoke, camped at the back of the room and downing beers while Taeil, Jiho, Kyung, and Jihoon dance around the television screen, screeching into the cheap mics.

"Who?" Jaehyo asks, barely even coherent at this point. All of them are basically smashed, and Yukwon has the confusing habit of discussing the members' sexual prowess while drunk.

"Taeil, man." he lets out, and Jaehyo feels his blood run cold.

"Why do you say that?" Minhyuk pouts, albeit drunkedly, and Jaehyo knows for a fact it's because he wants the hypothetical Yukwon's-fantasies-about-getting-blown-by-the-members award.

"I dunno. Just seems like he would be."

Jaehyo just feels angrier and angrier, for no apparent reason, staring at Taeil's back and listening to Yukwon's words and the jealousy is watching over him in waves.

"Hey, back off man." he stutters out suddenly, as coherently as he can, shoving Yukwon's hand off his thigh.

Yukwon furrows his eyebrows at him, slurring out a "What's your problem, I was just saying."

"Taeil's my friend, you can't say that stuff." Jaehyo forces out in a weak attempt at explanation, but that just makes both Yukwon and Minhyuk laugh at him.

"He's our friend too..." Minhyuk points out. Jaehyo admits that that's probably right.

"Taeil's like..." he had started the sentence with some hazy plan about defending Taeil's dignity, but the alcohol is making planning very difficult and spurting whatever first comes to mind very easy.

"Taeil's like, my fish, man."

"What." Yukwon deadpans, eyebrows furrowed. Minhyuk is giggling into his shoulder on the other side.

Jaehyo searches for the proper words to express his anguish and anxiety over the situation.

Nothing comes to his mouth. He frowns, tries to collect the words to encompass everything he feels in this situation, everything he feels about Taeil's smile and his singing and his fingers on Jaehyo's arm, his warmth against Jaehyo's side, and

"Romantically." slips out. Slips quickly and easily out of his mouth, and he stops thinking for a second and then takes that word, mulls it over.

Romantically.
Yeah.
That's the word he was looking for.
It feels like a weight has been taken off his chest and his shoulders, and a grin splits his face before he can stop it, the epiphany, revelation sort of grin.

He laughs.
"Taeil's like, romantically my fish. You know? So you have to, uh, find your own, romantic fish."

There's a long pause. Minhyuk and Yukwon both stare at him. The others yell the lyrics to Kara's Honey in the background.

"Oh." Yukwon finally says.

"Congrats, man." says Minhyuk, and Jaehyo feels something warm in his chest.

"Maybe you can confess to him in fish metaphors." Yukwon chirps in, and Jaehyo actually considers it for a split second.
