lay should have known better than to bring a deer - yes, a deer home after seeing the poor animal wander aimlessly from road to road. thank goodness his parents was on a holiday and he lived alone in a townhouse with a huge backyard, enough to give the animal some space to exercise.

minseok, lay’s best friend almost chokes on his drink after hearing lay’s story the next day.
“i- you what? deer? tell me again?”
lay sighs. “so yesterday i saw a deer wandering alone on some street and bought it home. the deer apparently likes my strawberry jam toast, i swear he has a really good taste!”
“how do you know it’s a male?”
“i just do.”
minseok doesn’t question anymore, instead, he leans close to lay and winks, making lay shiver. “by the way xingxing, there’s always these stories about animals turning into a very hot chick overnight. if that’s the case with you, don’t miss your chance, alright?”
“but how can the deer turn into a chick?”
minseok faceplams.

lay doesn’t question when he opens the door to his house that night and sees a young man, squishy cheeks and bright, shiny eyes sitting on the couch munching on some strawberry jam toast with a cup of coffee on the table, waiting for him.

the deer-turned-human coughs, “when are you going to stop staring?” lay shrugs. “donno.”
“anyway, my name is lu han, nice to meet you! thanks for taking me to your place.”
“hi, my name is lay.”
lu han raises his eyebrows. “and you’re not going to ask me how on earth did i turn into a human?”
“nah, it’s okay. my friend gave me some tips.”
lu han gives the human a weird look before continuing to take huge bites out of his toast and sipping on some coffee in between.
deers drink coffee? oh well, at least i learned something new today.

“when are you going to leave?” lay asks suddenly, one afternoon, while staring at the 'human' in front of him incredulously.
lu han pretends to look hurt. “what? wanting me to leave already?”
“i actually don’t mind, but you've been staying here for a long time free, and my parents are coming back soon. it’ll be weird to tell my parents ‘oh, i took a deer home when you guys were away and that deer soon turned into a human and is going to live with us for free’, don’t you think?”
lu han doesn’t answer.

and when lay opens his eyes the next morning, lu han is gone.

a few years later, when lay sees another deer on the streets alone in the rain, he brings that deer home without hesitation.

“hi there! my name is joonmyun, thanks for bringing me here!"
