He finds it impossible to believe someone could be so free with their feelings, and not even just because he's in an otherwise quiet cafe, sitting across from the loudest person there. But the laughter is nice; it's sweeter and richer than the caramel in his latte, and more satisfying than the slice of cake he's barely touched. Kyungsoo is tired of eating his break-up away.

"Don't you have to get back to work? It's been almost forty-five minutes."

"They won't miss me," Jongin says, smiling wide and sneaking a bite of the cake. Kyungsoo wishes he'd gotten a little of the frosting at the corner of his mouth, so he'd have an excuse to touch him. There's not even anything sensual about it just yet (though he'd be lying if he said there isn't a secret behind those bedroom eyes that he'd like to know). He just wants to make sure this is real, that Jongin is real, that the sound of his laughter and the warm scent he carries aren't just his brokenhearted imagination running away from him. Everything in here smells like coffee and chocolate, but Jongin is something deeper - musk and sweet cologne, topped with freshly foamed milk and a dash of cinnamon.

"I can come tomorrow."

"Six days in a row? If you want, I could talk about getting you a job here." Jongin's grin is cheeky and knowing. Kyungsoo stuffs another forkful of cake into his mouth. Jongin reaches to slip the fork out of his hand, and Kyungsoo almost chokes at the warmth of his skin.

"I don't think I'd like it as much, then. It wouldn't be as special, like a treat."

Jongin chuckles and sets the fork on the plate with a small clatter. "Probably not." He pauses a moment longer before standing, and lingers to brush the invisible wrinkles from his pants. "But, just so you know, tomorrow's my day off."

He doesn't wait for a reply, which is just as well because Kyungsoo doesn't have one. All he can do is watch Jongin saunter off in that way he has, gait simultaneously ambling and purposeful. He wants to do something crazy in that moment, like run after him, phone number in hand because it would be so much more practical than spending all his grocery money on overpriced coffee and cakes. But he doesn't want to make a scene because it wouldn't be nearly as graceful as the ones that follow Jongin.

And he isn't quite ready to believe someone like Jongin really exists.
