A sad story always starts (or ends) with someone being too nice while the other character has a difficulty of saying no.

Luhan was just too nice and Suho could never say no to him.

It had started with small requests, really. Can I hug you quickly followed by stay for the night, Suho and he can never forget that one fateful evening where they kissed because Luhan was tipsy from cheap alcohol and Suho still can't say no to Luhan.

Sometimes Suho wants to grab Luhan by the shoulders and tell him this isn't right, you can't drag me around expecting me to not harbor any feelings but he can never do it because Luhan is smiling at him and his hand is warm and Suho never wants to let go, no matter how much it'll hurt.

"Why is he ignoring me, Suho?" Luhan asks this with an expression of hurt as he rubs gentle strokes at Suho's fingers. Luhan doesn't realize how Suho's trying really hard not to fidget because of how annoyed he gets at the mention of him but Suho doesn't have to bother; Luhan doesn't notice little things about Suho. It is Suho who is intoxicated by Luhan and it is also Suho who is living a dream of pretense.

"Maybe he just doesn't like me?" Luhan offers himself an explanation because Suho is being pensive today; looking straight ahead, fingers barely intertwined. Its starting to get chilly for September and Luhan doesn't mind the extra warmth from Suho.

"W-why can't you forget him? Don't you like what we have?"

Luhan is biting his lip now and Suho knows this habit very well; it means he's about to deliver bad news. Suho stops walking and steps in front of Luhan, looking him straight in the eyes.

"You know I never felt that way about you, right, Suho?"

Suho hates how his eyes tear up a bit and his heart won't stop pounding despite the fact that yes, I knew but it still hurts, it always hurts. Luhan is smiling that smile that Suho likes best on sunny days but today is cloudy and Suho kinda wants to say fuck you, Luhan. Fuck you and your constant need to drag me in your shit and make me love you but he doesn't say it.

He instead lets go of Luhan's hand, small smile on his face as he turns around and leaves without a goodbye.

Because Luhan was never meant to be his and it took Suho too many tears shed in the dark to realize it.
