it’s nighttime so it’s ten times worse, the bodies that press up against them to try to get to their friends or their families, to their homes or to explore the night life. and there they are, standing in the throng of pushing people, watching each other with a gaze that can never be described by words. they are lost, yes; there is the sense of confusion in both of their eyes. one because he never expected this. the other because he thought he would.

“i didn’t think,” seunghyun mumbles out dumbly into the night air, his breath ghosting in front of his face as a cruel reminder that summer is far gone-jiyong was supposed to be far gone, too. summer flings come and go, seunghyun has had enough to know what a summer thing is, and what real love is, and whatever feelings he had wanted to flourish he pushed down because it was just a summer fling.

daesung, nor seungri, nor youngbae found him, living in mapo and going to school. they never took the time to get to know him. so seunghyun feels a crushing pain in his chest-why hadn’t he looked them up? why was jiyong the first person to ever actually go further?

maybe he had never expected anyone to fall in love with him.

“it’s late, i know i should be getting back before the last train,” jiyong coughs, and seunghyun realizes how cold he looks, shivering in his skinny jeans and leather jacket. seunghyun briefly wonders why anyone would wear something like that in late november, but it looks so good on him, so delicious, and seunghyun remembers the price of beauty quite well. his hair is pink, now, not the deep red it was back in july, when they met during the summer.

it fits him. anything fits jiyong.

when he turns away, headed back to wherever, seunghyun grabs his hand, not even realizing up until that moment that jiyong was so much shorter than him. he feels the air being knocked out of his lungs but he swallows, “stay at my place, please.”

jiyong looks down, his cheeks apple-red, and a small smile dots his lips. “ok,” he says nonchalantly, even if seunghyun knows that he’s blushing when they walk home.
