However…Kris was finding it hard to be very angry. Kris considered anyone or anything that distracted him from his time with work or sweets was definitely something to take notice in.
Kris silently tugged on his tie again before carefully packing his precious blueberry muffin bread back into the box. He needed to get home now, but this Lu Han guy…he needed to remember him.
“Found them! I told you the wrappings were in that drawer,” shouted Amber triumphantly as she emerged from the back room with a box of wrappings held high over her head.
“You are a liar! They weren’t there when I looked,” Lu Han pouted.
Kris’ eyes widened at the sight. Those pouty, cotton candy lips…
“See? He’s looking at me funny,” Lu Han pointed at Kris accusingly.
“Oh calm down. He always gets that look when he is in here. The guy is a sugar addict,” laughed Amber.
“I am not a sugar addict. I am a sweetness connoisseur,” Kris huffed with another tug on his business tie.
“Same difference. Look, Lu Han, watch the counter for a moment. I need to find something.”
“But, Amber, I can go look.”
“Well it wouldn’t do any good if you can’t find a box of cookie wrappers!”
“They were not there!”
However, Amber had already moved swiftly to the back room.
Kris observed Lu Han fidget behind the counter, clearly uncomfortable under the taller man’s gaze. Kris knew he could intimidate people with his height alone. However, his stare was an entirely different force to reckon with.
He couldn’t let his curiosity be kept bottled up anymore, so Kris spoke. “Excuse me…Lu Han, is it?”
Lu Han nodded his head nervously. “Y-yeah. How may I help you?”
Kris grinned as a mischievous thought crossed his mind. “Why, yes you can. Do you all sell cotton candy here?”
Lu Han gave a slight turn of the head while scrunching his face. Kris was impressed. Lu Han knew something was coming. “We do, sir. Would you like to purchase some?”
“Hmmm I am considering,” said Kris as he stood up from his table. “However, I want to ask something.”
“Um good ahead.”
Kris took languid steps up to the counter, smirk firmly placed on his face. “Would you happen to have taste samples?”
Lu Han gulped as the taller man approached him. “Erm we do! What flavor would you like?”
Lu Han near yelped when Kris leaned his muscular frame across the counter to the point where they were nose to nose. “If I may…I’m interested in your flavor…”
“Wow, Kris. I didn’t know that you swung that way,” Amber laughed.
Kris quickly leaned away from the counter. It did not go unnoticed to him how Lu Han’s face was a complete cherry red. He didn’t know why, but he felt extremely pleased about this. However, he kept his demeanor calm.
On the other hand, Lu Han did not.
“I-err…umm…I’m going to the back now!” Lu Han proclaimed loudly and started darting to the back room. “I told you he wanted to eat me,” whispered Lu Han harshly to Amber as he passed by her.
Amber just shook her head with a big smile on her face. “Hey, Kris. You mind trying not to eat any of our employees?”
Kris gave a low “hmph” before picking up his box with his blueberry muffin bread inside. “I was asking for a taste sample. That hardly constitutes as eating.”
“Sorry, our guys are not up for taste sampling,” snickered Amber.
“Um it was not what you think, Amber,” Kris said, giving another definitive tug on his tie. "And I do not 'swing that way'."
“Oh cut the bull! I bet the moment you found out that I was a girl, you had the most disappointed look on your face!”
Kris felt the heat start to rise to his cheeks, but left in a hurry before Amber would get the satisfaction of seeing him so flustered.
As he left, he thought briefly about finishing his blueberry muffin bread at his home. However, he also thought about a certain new guy at the bakery store and cotton candy lips.
