the bell from the church across her bedroom window was sobbing like a blubbering child. jessica slammed the window frame down so hard that the glass was sent quivering. the mourning song of the bell chimed louder than ever and made her shudder and fall to her knees. flashes of a laugh long gone, and a warm body long gone ran through her memories with each chime. salty, hot tears ran down her cheeks as the laughs in her mind turned to sobs.
the plaintive sound had long stopped by the time she realized that it was really her crying.
